Search for Lost H-Bomb Continues

Post by Mad Max RW »

[Community -> Update]

A few weeks ago it was reported a hydrogen bomb accidentally dropped by a B-47 bomber off the Georgia coast in 1956 may have been spotted after picking up some "unusual radiation readings". Today government scientists are meeting with retired Air Force lieutenant colonel Derek Duke to go over data collected near the area. Duke has been searching for the missing bomb for years and has finally gotten some attention. The Air Force claims there's nothing to worry about because the bomb is missing the plutonium capsule for a trigger. Meanwhile they say bad things can happen if you mess with the uranium and 400 pounds of explosives contained within.

How did they lose it in the first place? One doesn't chuck a H-Bomb into the Atlantic on a whim.

It dropped the bomb after colliding with a fighter jet during a training flight.

Ah, and back then the technology wasn't there to retrieve it. I got it.

Is anyone else wondering what kind of life is living near that bomb? With "unusual radiation readings" over 50 years, there might be some cool looking fish. Finding Nemo gone super mutant, perhaps?

About 8 feet. You can see the tail end of it sticking up from the beach.

They had all the technology you need to retrieve it, it simply couldn't be found. Ten weeks of diver searches amounted to nothing.
