The '80s

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

The '80s

Ahhh, the decade of crap. If only I'd been around to appreciate the '80s fully. I'd have lived it up, I tell ya.

Cheezy references, Vice City, and American Psycho aside, the '80s flat out sucked. The death of the 70s - and, with it, the hippies slouching to attention and their poorly raised children trying to make lots of money - was none too glorious.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

If you just embrace the utter cheese and stupidity of the '80s, it becomes a lot of fun. There's something liberating about being arrogant and clueless at the same time. It was all about being flashy, baby. The music was so bad, it was good. (And of course there are exceptions, like New Order, the Smiths, U2, et al.) The fashion was atrocious, but that makes it kinda cool. I guess you just have to have the right mindset.

Oh, yes! Especially by snooty asstards who think their opinions are the only ones that matter. Really, I can't think of anything more enjoyable.

My point exactly. Either it sucks or it rocks, depending on your paradigm.

don't worry, you should live until the next 80's. Then you can listen to your children complain about how they weren't born in a previous time because later on it seemed a lot better than it actually was.

I can't see why other people's opinions should matter to me.

The eighties also gave us Thatcher and Reagan. Vice city and Scarface aside, the eighties sucked.

The reason why I don't like my 90s "hertitage" is because I don't know most of the pop references you jackasses all grew up with. Sure, I catch a re-run of Magnum PI every now and then but when folks are saying "Transformers were cool beans back in the day." it's total fucking blank. As a kid, I grew up watching Captain Planet and Hard Copy, not Miami Vice and Masters Of The Universe.

I'm even worse with 80s music, I have no clue when it comes to that. Just ask teh Subhuman.

Shit, Hard Copy... I remember the name, but I can't remember what the show was. And Transformers was on TV during the 90s, too. Part of my regular weekday afternoon routine.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Yeah, but Ernesto's referring to the "hardcore" Transformers of the '80s, when the show first debuted. Whizzes right by my head, too.

Captain Planet! He's a hero! Gonna take the bad guys down to ZERO!

God, it's so sad that I remember that, but not my 13th birthday.

Yeah, it was the token South American who had that heart ring. Problem is, I couldn't tell if that Latino fuck was a guy or a girl.
