Out of Hell Trailer

Post by Mad Max RW »

[Game -> Mod News (DO NOT USE - use MOD > UPDATE instead)]

I never mentioned this UT2004 mod before, mainly because I didn't think it was going anywhere after years in development with little to show. The first Out of Hell gameplay trailer finally came out and it's looking very cool. There's a few mirrors which can be found at this forum post.

But you're probably wondering what the hell Out of Hell is. It's a singleplayer TC which takes place in an abandoned town completely overrun by zombies. That's basically all anybody knows. Stop by the homepage for info on weapons, interviews, and the usual stuff.

Woo, someone else is aware of this mod.. i've been watching it for a year or two now... I hope he sticks to his plan of releasing for UT2003 first, then UT2004 afterward... I don't *own* UT2004 -_-

Anyway it looks.. Fun. Much survivalist, ammo conservation, running away, and use of melee weapons...

It looks quite promising. I hope a good story accompanies it, and it might be the excuse I need to get UT2K4.

By the way, for those who didn't read through the site:

It's not purely zombies, it's a demonic rift deal, demon blood used to corrupt the bodies and possess them, etc etc... The zombies are the lowest most common form, then there are things like the tortured and shriekers who are like horrifically warped humanoids with twisted long mouths and such.. other than that there are far larger demons and a few mysterious boss-style characters. It's not a scientific deal, more a 'Where there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth' setup.

So it will kind of be like a Doom? A Doom that doesn't suck, right?

Good.

You mean a Doom without the dumb monster respawn behind you and the flash light? I'm in.

Hrm... the website looked nice until it loaded the info you wanted in a pop-up.

Doom has monster respawn behind the back? oh fuck, I thought game devs have grown out of this. Is it still worth playing? I've been planning to play it at some point this year.

Play System Shock instead, much, much more enjoyable. :drunk:

I don't know why Doom III got such a high mark. Did the gamers play the game to the end, instead of 2-3 hours into it?

I hated how id put inanely located closets behind the player, and open up with a bunch of zombies. Boo!! Now lets do that for another 600 times. It was like taking industrial sand paper and rubbing it vigoursly over my ass nerves.

Oh, another thing. Many small, weak monsters get annoying really fast. And no Larry the Birdman, which sucked.

Sys Shock 1 or 2? anyway, I've been playing both of them. Classy.
