Resident Evil sucks ass, it's not even 'horror' or anything any more, just a few zombies and now they have all these goofy ass mutant creatures. RE1 was mostly zombies and a few weird experiments and had a general horror theme to it, now RE is all about weird mutant monsters and action.

Silent Hill owns the fuck out of Resident Evil and Fatal Frame is pretty good too (havent played the sequel though).

Nocture was way more atmospheric and if your computer didn't suck the graphics were beautiful. Plus, akimbo handguns are satisfying.
