More S.T.A.L.K.E.R. excuses

Post by Mr. Teatime »

[Game -> Update]

Both THQ and GSC Gameworld have issued press releases (here and here respectively) regarding the recently announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. delay.
THQ Inc. had decided positively upon a request by the developing studio GSC Game World to have a longer test phase for the game. The programming of the engine and the implementation of almost all originally planned features as well as numerous wishes from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-community has largely been completed. However, during the testing of the game it turned out that the complexity of testing was much more extensive and therefore more time-consuming than originally expected. The reason for this is the dynamic and non-scripted “Life Simulation System that GSC Game World has implemented into S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. All creatures in the zone, including the non-playing-characters follow their own needs (e.g. hunting, combat, escaping, rest etc.) und thereby freely movie in the game world. In addition, the computer-controlled stalkers that are partly competitors of the player explore the Zone themselves, find artefacts, exchange information – exactly the same way as the player will do.

GSC Game World makes use of the additional time of development in order to extensively test the complex game world. THQ and the developing team aim to fulfil the high expectations of the many fans of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl concerning the stability, game balance and fun to play – and maybe even exceed them!
Additional QA never hurts. That's Quality Assurance, GSC developers, not Questions and Answers sessions.

There are also six new screenshots on the official website.

They would have released it this winter and people would have bitched at how much bugs the game has.

I don't fucking get why people keep saying Q&A when they mean QA. It's not Quality & Assurance, it's just fucking Quality Assurance.

And people who spell 'rogue' as 'rouge' suck too.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

were this news true, I'd be most pleased. Neat, perfected, thoroughly-fucking-tested life-sim system. That's what I want - a system that does what it says in the press release. Were it true. I'm fucking waiting. Torches safely resting nearby.

Until STALKER is released, don't cover anymore of these bullshit interviews.
