Metalheart: Replicants Rampage demo

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[Game -> Update]</strong>

A game that has looked promising in the previews, <a href="http://www.metalheart.ru/">Metalheart: Replicants Rampage</a>, has a demo available which you can get from <a href="http://www.nicolasgames.com/gry.php?act ... d=41">this page</a>, or download directly <a href="ftp://nicolasgames.com:1221/metalheart/ ... r">here</a> (171mb). The demo supports English, even though the site is in Polish. Post your impressions please!

I tried the link and it isn't letting me download it. The message I get is that it doesn't java script. I have the latest updates for java so I don't know what deal is with the page not loading or letting me DL Metal Hearts. I hope that it is a problem on their side so they can freaking fix it.
Ignore my warnings and pay no heed then your live will be ended shortly indeed!

Hope it is hosted at some decent mirrors sometime soon.

Nice to have a demo, sure quite a few people in the Fallout community will be enthusastic about it.

My post from Blue's News ( http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board. ... adid=52541 )

Well.... it's obviously a poor excuse for a Fallout clone. But don't let my few comments stop you from checking it out. I only played it about ten minutes or so and wanted to post my first impressions before I go to bed.

First off... it is supposed to be turn-based combat. Yet Metal Heart seems to stay real time unless the creature gets close range then it switches to TB... but only after the game gives the creature (giant scorpion) enough time to get in close. Then it switches to some weird form of TB letting the creature get first dibs on attacking you now that it is nice and close.

Second... the day night cycle seem to run ten times too fast. Though the setting is another planet from what I got out of the corny dialog. That brings me to third...

Third... the dialog is... well like a sixth grader wrote it as a soap opera script. I hope that describes it close enough. Well after your twelve-hour downloads (if you are lucky) you will see for yourself. If I can get beyond the cheesy dialog I may spend some real time (a few hours) trying to find some game play pleasure in this demo tomorrow.

If anyone else digs deeper and doesn't find anything under the top layers of cheese... please post a warning so that I don't waste a couple hours of my time.

A pity if that is true, I had hopes for Metalheart. Will probably try it regardless of the apparent short-comings. :drunk:

I spent another twenty painful minutes and uninstalled it. If you are going to play a game that wants so badly to be a Fallout clone, why not just play the original? At least you won't be extremely disappointed. This game needs a lot of work.

You should check this out. :chew:

http://www.akella.com/newslast-en.shtml

Here is what it says:

2.11.2004 - Official Refutation!!!

As we have just learned, a “demo of Metalheart: Replicants Rampage appeared in the World Wide Web not so long ago. It’s our duty to inform you that “Akella is not responsible for this illegal distribution at all. This is not an official demo-version and it appears to be an incomplete fragment of 2003-year game build flooded with various errors.

This inconvenience has occurred due to frustrating misunderstanding between “Akella and its partner that has mistakenly put the archive into the Web. The situation is being discussed and taken care of right now.

However, it won’t influence the date of release at all. It will happen in January 2005 as it was previously announced. For this very “demo is not a complete and tested product, we’d appreciate much if you do not mind its appearance. The final version will be completely different regarding the total conversion of RPG system and many other aspects directly influencing the general game concept itself.

We are especially addressing the masters of web sites that host this archive asking them insistently to remove it from their download sections immediately as it corrupts our respected name. Let’s not allow any provocations to confuse us.

At this very moment the official site of the game is under intensive construction. You will be able to find all the necessary information on Metalheart: Replicants Rampage there just a few days later.
