Fallout's history editorial
[ -> Editorial]
GameBanshee have a four page editorial about Fallout's history, from Wasteland to Bethesda's acquisition of the licence.
In 2004, Interplay released Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for the console gamers. Due to the inconsistency of the game's storyline to that of the known Fallout universe, the massive reduction in role-playing, and the lack of release on the PC, this is arguably the weakest of the series. Because of this, many of the existing Fallout fans felt that the Fallout series was, for all intents and purposes, dead. In the middle of 2004, Interplay began to have some severe financial problems, including the bankruptcy of its majority shareholder Titus. But as is usually the case in science fiction, death is hardly ever truly the end of the story. So where does that lead us?
As of this writing, Fallout 3 may be beaten and banged up, but like any good science fiction hero, it’s still kicking. With Bethesda’s announcement, Fallout fans at least have something to look forward to. It’s been a long journey from Wasteland to Fallout 3, and as Marcus the Super-mutant would say, “Been there, Seen that, got the scars. Or would he say, “Whew. Somebody cut a muffin?
It depends what Bethesda does with the licence as to whether it's something to look forward to. But there's more hope for the franchise than when Herve had it.

See!! I'm not the only one who figured this out.The classless systems of the two Fallout games added amazing replay value to the games, which is one of the major reasons why the series has a very active fan base years later.

If looked at from a canon aspect, Pip Boy memory stayed truer to the Fallout universe, at least graphically and language wise, than FOPOS did.SDMVersion3 wrote:I guess if they considered Pip Boy Memory part of the series, there might be some narrow competition.
Pip Boy Memory had a much better plot than FOPOS as well.
