The Fall is buggy

Post by Mr. Teatime »

[Game -> Update]

RPGDot report:
Silver Style has announced at the official German 'The Fall' website that all customers who bought the game from Amazon are going to receive a EUR 5,00 refund. Additionally, the price of the game has been reduced by the same margin so the retail version no longer costs EUR 44.99 at Amazon but EUR 39.99 instead.
Reason: Technical difficulties with the game. It seems like it's got massive issues. Silver Style has promised to release more patches ASAP.
There's also a new translated interview with Carsten Strehse here.

If I recall, Soldiers of Anarchy had a whole slew of tech issues as well. It was incompatable with ... well... almost everything.

It's really frustrating, because the word I am hearing out of German players who have it is that the game underneath all of the technical problems is really really good. Great atmosphere, great dialogue, great quests, and even the combat isn't too bad. Dayum. I hope they get it in working order soon.

At the core of every one of these occurances is a completely fucking moron. Atleast one. Why don't we just string up all the complete fucking morons and set fire to them?

It would make sense i tell you!!!!!

Just read an update on the SSE forums from someone who works at RPGDot: Apparently the newsbit was slightly misleading. Here is what he said:
Gorath wrote:The newsbit will be changed when somebody with the necessary rights is available. It´s incomplete and thus a bit misleading.

The following point was not mentioned because the newsposter wasn´t aware of it.

The price on Amazon was not (only) lowered because the game has technical issues but probably also because SSE told their community members a few days ago that Amazon would be shipping the game 2 days before the street date, of course with the implication that Amazon would be the place for those who want it ASAP. This info turned out to be wrong. Several retailers sold the game earlier, so those who ordered at Amazon actually got it slightly later than they would have at their local shop but also paid about 5 EUR more - 45 EUR instead of 40 EUR. This is the price difference which got corrected now.
So I would rather say it´s a nice gesture for their community and not a desperate attempt to sell a buggy product.
He said a little bit more about the bugs that are known, but that was the stuff about the price drop.

Excellent news Tayl, thanks. I am really looking forward to an English release of The Fall and want it (very much so) to be a good game. It looks like my kind of game. I still have hope... at least now I do.

I'm not gonna pay fucking $52 USD for it. They need to drop the price substantially more for me to be interested. At least $35 USD. That would be a more appropriate price for a new-comer game with relatively low interest from the general public.

Evil Genius did that. Now that's a good price for any game.

I hear from German buyers that the new 1.2 patch fixes a lot of the problems. System performance is much much better, the major showstopping bugs seem to be fixed for the most part...there is fix coming out Monday or Tuesday that will address the save game problem some people are having. Things are looking a little better for the game at the moment. If the bug problems start to diminish this quickly then people can start talking about the content of the game(which seems pretty good) rather than the technical problems. Although the release still sucked big time. :S

I still possess some interest in The Fall, but not as much as when it was originally announced. SoA dropped in price very quickly over here.
