The latter incarnation of FM were shite. If you do a bit of digging and get some of their earlier albums with Peter Green, you'll discover a really good blues/rock band.

Coincidentally FM and PF both lost their original driving forces to acid;Peter Green and Syd Barrett.

Yeah, but post-Barret Pink Floyd was quite good (arguably better), and Gilmour gave the group the structure that Barrett lacked.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

If by "latter" you mean post-1975, hardly. Both Fleetwood Mac (from 1975) and Rumours (from 1977) were fantastic. They wavered a bit after that, but even 1987's Tango in the Night was a solid album.

I haven't heard anything from FM's earlier years, but Then Play On is supposed to be excellent. And Santana covered "Black Magic Woman" and made it a hit, so there you go.

Well, my vote is for Lark's tounge any time.

The post barrett Floyd is the famous one, that's a given, they are probably better, but they really made different music. It was much more pshycadelic/space rock.
