STALKER isn't delayed, honest
<strong>[Game -> Update]</strong>
Recently there have been confusing reports about the progress of <a href="http://www.stalker-game.com">STALKER</a>, with <a href="http://stalker.myexp.de/forum/viewtopic ... 16730">one report</a> going as far as saying the game currently has no interface, cut-scenes or missions.
<br>
<br><a href="http://gamesradar.msn.co.uk/news/defaul ... Gamesrader has speculated further</a> on these rumours, and managed to get a response from the game's publishers, <a href="http://thq.com/">THQ</a>:<blockquote><i>...they have strongly denied that the game will be subjected to any further delays and re-affirmed that the title is still on schedule for release on PC in May 2005.</i></blockquote>I'm reminded of the fiasco around <a href="http://www.half-life2.com/">Half Life 2</a>'s original September 2003 release date, with it being officially confirmed just days before the game slipped for a year.

Technically the game is already over a year late. It originally had been told (to the media) that STALKER: Oblivion Lost would be released in 2003. It was delay until spring of 2004. Then it was delayed until X-mas 2004... then all the feature cuts started being released during summer in a non-stop release of interviews saying the same shite over and over. Then it slipped into 2005 to prevent it from competing with the likes of Halo 2, Half-Life 2, and Doom 3 (which sucked)... and now, now we are discussing if it will make its May 2005 release date. I doubt it will manage to even come close to what they originally promised when they first cranked up the ole hype machine back in 2003. Will it make the May 2005 release? I honestly couldn't care less. If it does it will be far less impressive since a year of slippage can really hurt a graphics engine wow-factor. Not that graphics are king, at least not for me. I still enjoy older games that just have great gameplay. I do fall for the amazing-graphics-shitty-gameplay pitfall on occasion but far less then in the past. I have a very small glimmer of hope but the hype machine has left a stench in the air and I am no longer sure I can completely forget all the BS spewed over this past year.
