Yes, and again, wrong choice of words. HL had a good plot, better than most FPSs. That's what I meant - it didn't just go from point A to point B. But in terms of gaming, yes, it was linear.

No, it didn't go from point A to B. In fact, it didn't go anywhere because Half Life hardly had a plot at all.

Maybe the function was derivated? That would make f'(x)=mx+b to f(x)=x^m+bx+n, wouldn't it?

I don't know. I just happened to like it, plot or no plot, I still thought the 'story' or the absence of one was pretty good.
