Restricted Area's Jan Beuck interviewed

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[ -> Interview]</strong>

<a href="http://www.homelanfed.com">HomeLAN Fed</a> have <a href="http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id= ... nterviewed Jan Beuck of Master Creating</a> - developers of <a href="http://www.ra2083.com/">Restricted Area</a> - about the year in PC gaming and what he thinks the future holds.<blockquote><i><b>HomeLAN - Finally, is there anything else you wish to say about the past year in games and/or the upcoming year in games?</b>
<br>
<br>Jan Beuck - The games market is more and more controlled by a few big publsihers which recycle always the same concepts with better graphics and - sometimes - a few tweaks. This makes playing games pretty boring for people that already played a lot of games (like me). I hope this gets better next year, but instead it seems to get worse. :-/</i></blockquote>Online distribution is the way forward, in my opinion.

Online distribution also has its flaws. Good for multiplayer games but you get screwed over needing an internet connection in order to play a single player game. Or that is how it is with STEAM at least.

I don't have consistent, if any, internet access for four months out of the year, so yeah, it is a bit of concern for me.

Most people DON'T have broadband, and there are a lot of people who don't trust being at the mercy of massive corporations. In my opinion, STEAM is very big-brotherish.
