TeamX release Fallout 2: A New Vision (Russian)
[Game -> Mod News (DO NOT USE - use MOD > UPDATE instead)]
Many people were skeptical, but a mod that's been in development for about four years has finally been released. Fallout 2: A New Vision, developed by TeamX, is available to download in Russian. The English version isn't finished, but it's getting there, though there won't be voice-overs like there are in the Russian version. Here's part of the description taken from the English FAQ:
The mod contains a variety of new items, including drugs and weapons. The weapon system incurred several changes - ammo properties have been altered, several weapons have been replaced. Some new features have been introduced to the game - for instance, you can now combine different components to make drugs, etc.

The mod is fused into the Fallout 2 story line. Upon completing the mod you can continue playing the original game.

The mod's features in short:

* over 20 characters are involved, with 7 of them being brand-new, while others having new dialogs and quests;
* more than 30 brand-new items, including new weapons and drugs;
* some remade areas, several altogether new minor areas have also been added;
* a significantly altered weapons system, new random encounters, along with many other features.

Mod playing time: 4-5 hours.

Release date: December 31, 2004 (optimistic to say the least)
I'd say that release date is pretty damn accurate. Well done, TeamX.

Thanks to Aptyp of Megaton/Decay for the news tip.

We're not doing voices in the English version for a number of technical reasons, and as a translator I can state that there really ain't anything left to translate...
But there's one thing that any of you can help out with - and that's beta-testing. So just crawl on over to http://www.teamx.ru/eng and find out about the details.

There's nothing weird about it, it just requires one critical skill - literacy;) One of the main NPCs clearly hints on a way of getting into the Klamath Caves, which really are a whole new dungeon.
Personaly, I wouldn't call it a flashy mod myself. It is what it's called - "A New Vision", it's a very "under the skin" kind of thing...But don't listen to me, I'm a member of TeamX after all...

The map of Fallout 2 was very explored. The game was born 8 years ago. Certainly there are people that won't like this mod. However this doesn't remove the merit of the team. After all, it places something again to the game. Perhaps many fans would like to play something completely new, other world map, other quests, other cities. Ok, they are right, I would also like to play a new game.
But a work of this magnitude demands something that the fans cannot give.
After all, some spend its time, its effort, its intellect, its imagination in the creation of a mod. Which their objective? To please to the fallout fans. What do they receive?

I wonder, ARTYP, Fo2 is also boring for u? $-) May be u'd better play Doom3 or somethng? As for me...I found, intresting gamplay, nice new items and lovely dialogs. Training melee with major Arroyo Warior? is /t it fun?ApTyp wrote:Personally I found it boring. ...the weird game logic.
