Feelings Online, finally.

Make dumb suggestions so we can ignore them. I'm lovin' it.

Feelings Online, finally.

Post by Mr. Teatime »

Ok I've gotten rid of Feelings Online, for the last time. It won't be coming back. I know quite a few people voted keep it in the poll, but I just didn't see the point, since no one posted in it.
Anyway, I thought that maybe a new forum to introduce, that would at least get more activity, would be a hardware forum, for talks about computer hardware, as a kind of compliment to the software/gaming forums we have. The question is, would people find this useful, do you think it's a good idea?

I'm kind of keen to build up the non-Fallout parts of the forums since there's really not much more to say about Fallout that hasn't been said before. Hence building on the 'community' parts of the site.

What does a hardware forum have to do with post-apoc and/or fallout?

Not much. That's what I said building up the community side of things, rather than the Fallout side of things, which we have pretty much covered.

This is a fallout/Post-apoc community however. So again, what does a hardware forum have to do with fallout or post-apoc? The few times we do get hardware threads they work just fine in general discussion.

Even if this is a FO/PA community, like I said, no one talks about it. I think people would still stay even if we moved to other avenues. I mean, I post here for the people here, not because OMG ITS A FO FORUM LOL.

^ what Susan said.

Fallout is 6 yrs old, we still talk about it, and it's still the backbone of DAC, but it's going to be a while before there's much to talk about with regards to Fallout 3, and when that time comes, there's a good chance it will disappoint anyway.

Which is why I think we could expand on the community side of things, where there is always new stuff to talk about. The SJRnR forum was part of that and seems to be doing pretty well, and this hardware forum would be another thing in that direction, if it was made.

There is always the danger of moving 'too far' from Fallout I guess, and maybe that's what axel meant. So that's why there's this thread and poll, to see what people think.

You should have merged FO with SJRR :(
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

WE dont have enough users to support a hardware forum, it would get a new thread every couple of weeks. If people need help with hardware they should just ask in General Discussion, it can handle the traffic, you dont need to evenly split all discussions.

Let's do something to bring newbies in? Like changing our name to NMAC?

Alas, poor Feelings Online. I imagine I'll miss you as much as that large spider I found in my shirt yesterday. :drunk:

Yeah, the active user base is not big enough to start making a lot of forums, that would just ammount to a lot of empty forums.

General discussion already got divided into gaming and sjrnr, I think that's enough.

How much traffic would a hardware forum really get? At this rate General Discussion would become a ghost town.

You'd be better off streamlining the forums rather than spliting them off, join GD and SJRR back together. Merge fan art and fan fiction together. Join the two editing forums together as we don't get many RPG modders coming to DaC to talk about modding much anymore. Rename the Fallout spinoffs so that noobs don't post gameplay questions for FOT in the modding forum, as that's the only one with tactics in the title.

Propably not enough traffic. True. You could give it a try though, I won't cry myself to sleep at night if you do.

I like things the way they are.

Yeah, I guess things'll be left the way they are for now.
Joining the two editing forums together might be something else to think about, I dunno.

Fortunately it wasn't an especially venomous type, so after recovering from the initial surprise I escorted it to and left it in the garden. I don't tend to impulsively kill spiders if it can be avoided. :drunk:

Done. Also moved the order around a bit so the editing forums are at the bottom.
