Alright. Got interested after I read Zack Parson's article from Somethingawful.com, which began with religious idiots blaming people's sins for this tsunami in Asia and ended up in the separation of Church and Skate -> http://www.somethingawful.com/
So. Reading that article made me kinda think. We haven't had a real religion/politics thread in DAC for a while, so why not start one? I'd especially like to hear yous peoples' comments on The Museum of Creation, ie. Adam and Eve riding dinosaurs 10th October 4628 B.C.
After all, Lathin ligo = to bind, tie -- relig = tie fast, ended up in another word as well: "rely", old French relier.
It has come to my knowledge that some creative individuals have spent a lifetime, or more, in quest to discover the true date when God created Earth and all multiverse under His grace. Of what use such knowledge would be, I don't know, perhaps some lucky sod could say he and Globe have the same birthday. But I don't intend to keep you all sweaty and excited for no reason at all, dear chap, so here's a couple of things they call "hyper-links" in the internets. I hope you mostly enjoy them:
Though someone, probably wisely, locked the topic, it hasn't degraded into meaningless spam yet so I thought I'd unlock it and see where it goes...
Of course, I may regret this decision.
I am agnostic or aethiest. I dunno which, I try not to think about it too much.
I'm not a religious man, so I'm a strong evolutionist. Why? There's more proof that way.
"When conversing about oligarchy, you must consider this point: Many children are taught from an early age that monarchies are primarily benevolent, and are given very little to discourage this opinion until at least adolesence. Even more prevalent are stories about the supposed benevolence of heirs to the throne, symbolising a cycle which they are taught is good."
Well, yeah, everyone has their own personal opinion yadi yadi yah, let's get to the *really* interesting matter, church vs. state:
SA dot com wrote:Robert Sherman: "What will you do to win the votes of Americans who are atheists?"
George HW Bush: "I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me."
Robert Sherman: "Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?"
George HW Bush: "No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

Well thats religion right there. All about exclusionism and retardation, not unlike imperialism or nationalism. At first it helps people who feel lonely and separated from the core to be '4 p4r7 0f s0m3thng', and in the end it becomes a reason to cut even more people off. Go go power rangers and mastercard special offerings.

Offering Mormons booze is always fun.
Surelly not! Let the heathen pukes ask their god of lies for booze! They are not getting into my reliquary of liqueur!

Well, Mega, can you honestly say that if the You-Es of A suddenly turned into a Christian-Fascist Corporate Police State, it wouldn't affect your life at all - on any level?

No, it wouldn't 'cause it's already happened.
