35 new STALKER screenshots

Post by Mr. Teatime »

[Game -> Update]

It looks like Worthplaying have beaten STALKER Online to the scoop this time. They have 35 new STALKER screenshots up, some of which are pretty impressive, some that show the dialogue screen, and some that are just plain funny.

I think it's not the proper translation, it looks like the Russian version (note the names of the people) with some English dialogue thrown in. The retail version will most likely be translated by the publisher, and, erm, make sense.

The guy's face is pretty well done, compared to earlier builds. Or am I crazy?

Some of those shots look amazing... and then others look like ass. I would guess 70% of the screens range between amazing or just nice. But the rest are washed out and textures look like crap. Hopefully those are from an old build of the game or an old video card. :?

Does anyone remember a developer saying that you would not be able to shoot down helicopters with a rifle? I think they changed their minds... since there are numerous shots of characters firing on helicopters. And several smoking helicopters... several crashed or crashing helicopters.

I for one am glad they went for more realism, as far as that aspect goes anyway. Now I just hope they fixed the physics for thrown objects. Does anyone remember the video with the bouncing grenades?

I'm sure it was translated by "Socrat" (famous Russian-English translator). Our Ukrainian....hmmm....guys like to use it, even if the whole programming team knows English.
The first guy's name (Меченый) means "Marked"
The second guy's name (Сидорович) is Sidorovich (this is not a name, it is a family name).

Ach, you learn new things every day. So "ч" is yet another s-sound, right?

Sounds more like "tje" with a hard t, pitch j ('ie') and short e. ( tjche ?) Am I even close?

Well, I hear there are 11 different versions of "s" in Russian.
I know shit, though.

No, if you're talking 'bout the ending of that name (Sidorovich).
The last sound of that name is more or less like the end of English "match" (but maybe softer - I'm not sure) - this spelling (by Redrick Shuhart?) is devised so as to enable the native speakers of English to pronounce it more-or-less correctly.
The endind of that name is also like the ending of Janukowicz (Yanukovitch, or whatever they spell it in English) - the guy that cheated in the recent presidential election in Ukraine, so maybe you get to hear this name in the news.

PS: Redrick, the surname of the roadside-picnic guy spells "Shoehart" as far as I remember.

I stand corrected. Drowsy from illness I attempted to solve the riddle of the letter itself, which I think is pronounced 'tChe', only to capture all the sounds of it required me to become mad, and hence I started to throw in all types of letters. Sorry everyone!

Redrick,
since you're Ukrainian, you should stress (for others' information) that Ukrainian is not Russian and hence your people have their own language, and I guess the letters of the alphabet also aren't exactly the same (or maybe I'm wrong?), although I hear (some/most/all) people in eastern Ukraine despise their own language and speak Russian :?

this one's more like "pleasure", ain't it?
