ENGLAND VS AMERICA
Yeah and it looks crap and you won't pick up chicks with it. British cars are not known to be well made either, e.g. Jag and Land Rover. Its a tie there I'd say.RAK wrote:Actually, there's a custom-built car made in Britain, called the Atom, which has 600HP per tonne and can go around the Top Gear test track almost as fast as the Ferrari Enzo. Did I mention that it's only £27,000?Music is the only thing the Brits can do better than the Americans.

What about movies for crying out loud?! That's about it, there equally as average. I can't think of a country that excels in a particular 'thing' overall, even though I gave an example just now.
TV is a bit different In England its more documentary that reality tv, like 'WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ENGLAND WAS RAN BY WOMEN?' or 'HOW DIRTY IS YOUR CAR?'. There's still some reality but it's usually just one show at a time because they don't compete with each other.

generally i like some of americas more well made and bigger budgetted tv and movie, special effects arent everything though... some of teh more well made and intelligently thought out series and films do appear to be british... but for no-brainer action and glamour.. USAAOK
as for my taste in music british music is by far the leader of the two.

Actually Arjuna, Land rover is a really good make and very reliable 4x4, and Jaguars are for show... if you have enough cash to fork out on an XJ220... who fucking cares how often it breaks down or how hard parts are to get for it... its a JAG!Arjuna wrote:Yeah and it looks crap and you won't pick up chicks with it. You also have to think of aston martin, and MG etc.. when you think of british cars... but the germans have it nailed when it comes to cars, BMW, Porshe, Merc etc..

The Beatles are quite possibly THE most overrated band in music history. They fucking suck. Get over it.Mr. Teatime wrote:In terms of entertainment, England has a disproportionate amount of talent and contributions, IMO. With music, we have The Beatles, Queen, a load of bands.... films - well, not so much... TV and comedy, we have Monty Python, Fawlty Towers... The Office...
Agree/disagree? The music thing is interesting. A lot of world-class talent has come from Britain in the last 50 years.
Queen, meh. They had their time,
Monty Python is easily the best thing to come out of England in the last 50 years, aside from some beautiful actresses.

I agree about the Beatles, though I have to respect the time they made that music, it was completely different from what had gone before. Taken as songs and tunes on their own and looked at now, they're not great, though there are some decent tracks.Mandalorian FaLLouT GoD wrote:The Beatles are quite possibly THE most overrated band in music history. It seems that there are several ahead of me in that queue, several far more deserving than I of that dubious honour, so to write. A shame . . .S4ur0n27 wrote:Blargh should get the spammy twit title as well.

I can't stand the Beatles, or any music for that matter. Grand.
Blargh just spews spam, but at least he's amusing. C'mon, he has elevated constructive spamming into an art, give the man a break or something. :sober:
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Would that I could teach ! No, I cannot teach. I hate teaching. If I attempted to teach you, I'd end up yelling at you, throwing rotten fruit at you, removing your fingernails with pliers, knocking your teeth loose from your jaw with a large metal ruler, setting your hair alight for amusement and generally torturing you on physical and psychological levels. Actually, given the subject, even if I could teach the curriculum would in fact be identical.
No ! your learning shall be under your own guidance. I'm certain once you make that choice, you'll take to it admirably. Just keep the pliers handy.
Now 'koff. K:
For the record, and for the sake of 'OT', I have not yet changed my mind about any British or American entertainment media, art, music or porn. Thank you.
