Raiders...

Discuss the game that started it all, and its sequel. Technical questions and issues go into the Fallout Technical Support forum, not here.

Raiders...

Post by twiztid wanderer »

I'm actually not sure if this question has been already asked or not so I'm askin again. How would everybody feel about being able to join with raiders? Personally I think it would open up a whole new view to fallout and the wasteland.
Is it they fear the pain of death or do they fear the joy of life?
Life is only an outer layer, for reality is only realized by the insane.

yeah, that actually strikes me right now as kind of a "no duh" thing. I mean... c'mon... isn't that the definition of 'open ended gameplay'? being able to choose what side of any particular conflict you wish to join?

Well, you are quite able to play a raider in FO1 and FO2. If you attack other travellers to get their goods and raid settlements for fun and profit you are a raider. That simple.

It would have been very nice if you would have been able to change sides in FOT...

But as we all know, FO:T wasn't supposed to be an RPG, and I was glad to see another incarnation of a world I am very familiar with and fond of. Sure it wasn't FO3, but it wasn't supposed to be. I'm glad that it has garnered enough attention to finally draw some other developers into making games in that genre.

If combat in FO-enviroment is all I want, I'll play Wasteland HL. Fo:T sucked sloppy donkey dick, IMO, and it isn't getting any better with the modifications we have by today...

What I wouldn't mined is the ability to join a raider clan and go an raids in a similar way to joining the slavers in FO2

If you couldn't join the raiders then that would defeat open endedness of FO1 and FO2. It's always fun to murder and loot from helpless travelers.

I agree. i'd love to be able to join the raiders again, this time we should even be able to finish the game as one, affiliated with one of the gangs preferably... And yes, the raider-quests should be just like the slaver-quests in FO2, just always be there, but as they progress, they get harder as the raiders get better weapons and take on larger settlements... It'd be damn hard to program though...

Yeah. The raids would have to have something unique going for them though. Otherwise it would just be a clone of slaving runs, except you are killing and looting instead of killing and capturing. Attacking settlements would be fine, but yes very hard to program. Because it would be lame fighting against some randomly generated town, and having the player go against actual game cities would be a distaster, potentially.

There needs to be more evil people in the world, as well. There should have been some quests that you could only get as a slaver in FO2. Like say some one only giving you a job because he heard about you being a really tough raider.

So, to answer the first question, I need to join the raiders! If an FO3 ever does come out, you better be able to join the raiders! I'll burn the Interplay HQ down if they don't!!

You're just describing the Den.. :)

I think there should be an option to join raiders/slavers in FO3, it's good for evil chars and bad karma. What about two rival raider groups and you could only join one of them? They'd have different quests of course and it would add replayability.

No, a proper raider town would have a few crappy huts with dead people and beggars in, then a big fort and inside it's like a palace, with people in the gallows and stuff. A mixture between a roman arena type thing, a castle and a scrap yard.

I already think there is two raider groups (khans and the skullz or something)

And instead of the 4 mafia gangs in new reno, I think they should just be one big syndicate.

So the main gangs wanting power in the wasteland should be:
The Mafia
Slavers
Raiders
The gang in san fran
The ncr

plus the other little crappier gnags and factions.

The Enclave should be replaced with the fearsome Interplay marketing staff who think new Fallouts wont sell.
