Fallen Earth preview

<strong>[Game -> Preview]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... tle=Fallen Earth">Game: Fallen Earth</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... tle=Icarus Studios">Company: Icarus Studios</a>

There's a <a href="http://www.warcry.com/scripts/columns/v ... =6419">new preview</a> for the post-apocalyptic MMORPG <a href="http://fallenearth.com/index.htm">Fallen Earth</a> at <a href="http://www.warcry.com">Warcry</a>. It's more to do with the setting than anything else, and looks OK if you like MMORPGS.

<blockquote><em>
Hettinger and Watkins say Fallen Earth
was inspired principally by the way Mad Max and other movies like it
made dark futures seem real. When it was created, Mad Max played on the
fears of the oil crisis in the late 1970s, fears every member of the
western world experienced, which gave it both believability and mass
market appeal. Icarus is using that concept, marking today's inklings
into genetic engineering and viral research as a starting point for Fallen Earth's universe.

Set 150 years into the future, Fallen Earth
has a very "Falloutesque" vibe. Technology from the past has been
forgotten or lost, and players are charged with rediscovering the
majority of it. The first year of the game, according to Icarus, should
remain rather low tech; shotguns, pistols, and low grade genetic
manipulation will be the norm.</em>

I take offense at the phrase "Fallout fans never had it so good" that's used later in the article.<a href="http://forums2.warcry.com/read.phtml?f=97&id=639083">

Premature enthusiasm for self. Name dropping. Not good. I find it amusing that they appear to be unable to describe the atmosphere of their product with their own words. I can't say it piques my interest. MMORPGs are awful, as a rule. :drunk:
