Need advice on Console games.
So I've finally surrendered myself to buying a PS2(The really light, and small version) and I'll get it sometime next week.
So, I wanted to hear from you guys, the more experienced in consoles of you anyway, what else to buy for it....
The main reason I'm buying it, is because my girlfriend and I are constantly playing WoW lately, and when I'm playing, she's bored out of her skull...!
But I sense a console-whore inside of her!
SO! What equipment should I get for it, extra pad, mem-card etc.?
And most importantly: What games!
For gods sake, something that can keep her occupied for hours at a time!
Aside from that, when she's playing WoW, and I'd like to punch it up on the PS2, what game proposals do you have for me?
Soul Calibur 2 is for PS2, right?
Don't worry about the money or cost, I'll figure that out for myself.
The last question is, should I get a PS2, and not an Xbox?
I don't like the idea of the Xbox, and so far the games for it don't seem all that gr8...
Heck, I'd settle for a Dreamcast, but they don't sell those anymore, afaik.

Just give her a punch in the tit until she comes to her sense.
You should go for the console that has the games you (or your girl) want. That's pretty much the golden rule with consoles. Buy it for the games you want. As for extra equipment, I'd go for an extra pad at least and a memory card for each game.

Dude... the only console games I ever really played were Mario, Kirby and Zelda back in the old days..You should go for the console that has the games you (or your girl) want. That's pretty much the golden rule with consoles
I have no idea what new games for consoles are out.
Xcept for San Andreas which I'm pretty sure I *am* buying.

Really all you should or need to get for Playstation is a copy of Time Crisis 3 or Time Crisis: Crisis Zone and 2 Guncons. You will be set for life. Long hours of Time Crisis tournaments have been played on the big screen in surround sound here...hours which should have been devoted to such things as going to class.

Most of the time, if people buy Time Crisis, the game comes packaged with one Guncon already, but I think Namco released a "just game" version too. That Guncon is ok, but it's nothing special. It gets the job down.
I just ordered two of these, though:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego ... ts_id=1603
They've got the kickback/recoil action feature, like in the arcade. Although, what I'd really like to get is this:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego ... ts_id=2358
It's crazy expensive, though, and out of stock at that website. I've found it at other places, like ebay stores, but all are wicked expensive.

Soul Caliber 2 is for ALL systems, but the dirty wankers who made it used the cheapest method in the world - one different character in each console. You got Link on the GC, Spawn on the X-Box, and Hieyatchi(might be spelling it wrong), from Tekken on the PS2.
Just buy a memory card and a second controller. You don't need all that shiznits to play games.
The real question is, what type of game are you looking for? Are you planning on playing single player games, or games with company? Both can kill a lot of time.
Last, since you purchased a PS2, you can also work PS1 games on it... if you can get Castlevania:SOTN... You'll forget you have a girlfriend.

Game recommendations :
Hunter:The Reckoning Is a great game for all systems as well which uses the same cheap method as SC2 to sell. Game plays Gauntlet style with guns and zombies. For the GC, it's a realy awesome game to play with friends.
Def Jam: Fight for New York, is an awfully stupid game both in name and concept(bling bling black bullshit), but is actually pretty fun to play, despite the BS and the fact that the characters are rappers.
X-Men Legends is good.
You'll like the Onimusha series. It's sort of like Splinter Cell with swords and Japanese crap. I bought it for a friend on his birthday, and he had a lot of fun with it(Single player only)
If you're a fan of fighting games, get Capcom VS SNK2, or Marvel VS Capcom. It's rather awful on the GC, but I hear it plays a lot better on the PS2. You might want to give Guilty Gear a shot, it's a colorful Last Blade lookalike game. Also if you're a fan of fighting games, I don't need to tell you that buying Tekken will suck the life out of your spare time.
I hear they released Shinobi on the PS2. This is the kind of games you just have to buy.
LOTR:TT, is rather fun. I was realy against even touching anything with LOTR on it at first, but apparently the games are realy kickassie, not realy refreshing anything game-wise, and mimicing them instead, but they're pretty fun nevertheless(There's even a LOTR game for the GB, that I'm playing right now).
If you want good one player adventure games, there's a new Star Ocean for the PS2. If you played the translated SO on the SNES, you'll know what to expect. I haven't tried it yet, but it certainly looks nifty. Also look for Breath of Fire on the PS2.
SH4 : A must.
I love Bloodrayne, and I know there's Bloodrayne 2 for the PS2. Give it a shot.
If you know the Wild Arms game serie for the first playstation, then you realy ought to buy WA3, which looks like a realy great game.
If you can find Metal Slug 3, I suggest you buy it. Sure, you can download it and play it on a Neogeo emulator, but nothing beats playing MS with a controller in your hands.
Megaman X7 is fantastic. It's not what you're used to in the Megaman games, but I'd still give it a rent, at least.
That's all I can think of for now.

Ps2 has alot of games but I expect you want to play multiplay with your girlfriend but I dont think there is alot of good multiplay games for it, atleast nothing that looked good to me. There is good quality single player games for ps2 for all types of stuff, your going to have to give me some more details in what you like.
There is shooter and hack/slash games for multiplayer. I disagree with Guardian about Hunter, my friend got it for xbox and we played it together and I thought it was kinda shit. Maybe if you have 4 players it could be a different story.

I played Metal Gear Solid 2 and it sucked.
I played ICO and it was great.
I played Burnout 3 and it sucked.
I played Chaos Legion and it sucked.
I played Jak And Daxter and it sucked.
I played Disgaea and it sucked.
I played Riong Of Red and it sucked.
I played Final Fantasy X and it sucked more than all of the above.
So consoles suck mang

I suppose it's all a matter setting. I had a heck of a lot of fun with it when I played it with my friends, while playing it alone does make the game seem pretty mediocre.POOPERSCOOPER wrote:
