[Film & TV -> Article] - More info on Film & TV: Carnivale
For those of you who get HBO, or who have pockets deep enough to buy random DVD collections @ your local electronics store; I'd suggest checking out Carnivale. Carnivale takes place during the height of the Great Depression, in the great American Dustbowl. Actor Nick Stahl
(Terminator 3) plays yet again, a reluctant savior to a doomed world as
he, Ben Hawkins, joins a traveling Carnivale after the death of his
mother and the destruction of his family shack. From there, Ben Hawkins
is pressed to keep his gifts (or curse) secret, yet over time, the crew
discovers more and more about the young boys' origin and purpose.
On
the other side, we have Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption)
who plays the role of Brother Justin, an evangelist who slowly builds a
massive following and begins to corrupt those around him for his
stairway to power and ultimate destruction.
Quite frankly, Carnivale
is probably one of the darkest and most unique shows I've seen in a
long time. I believe many of you would enjoy its' dark and somewhat
apocalyptic setting... So if you have a chance, watch an episode or
two. Carnivale airs on Sundays from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT (The season
1 collection is available for purchase, or watch all of season 2
On-Demand - Comcast). Check out the complete Cast listing, which includes Adrienne Barbeau from, Escape From New York.
