ExMachina
<strong>[Game -> Article]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... hina">Game: ExMachina</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... m">Company: Targem</a>
There's
a new post apocalyptic game in the works.  It's called <a href="http://www.targem.ru/exmachina_eng/">ExMachina</a>, and
it's an "action rpg" styled very much like <a href="http://www.autoassault.com">Auto Assault</a>.  Apparently, though, your PC isn't actually a person:  it's a bad ass TRUCK.<img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/forums/image ... ttrock.gif" />
<blockquote><em>We
are proud to announce ExMachina - a third person action-driving, set up
in post apocalyptic world. You will drive through the regions of the
new Earth, where you will uncover secrets of the lost civilization,
learn the fate of the mankind, gain powerful friends and fight numerous
enemies.
Your hard truck is your only hope of survival in the hostile world. You
will need it to travel, to earn money and to fight your way through the
dangerous areas. It's crucial that you upgrade your truck every time
you have a chance and equip it with ever more powerful weapon and new
gadgets. To be able to do that you'll need to trade with towns and
villages on your way, and carry out various tasks.
The action and the RPG part are closely interrelated in the game, the
action part being the driving, the spectacular combats with other
trucks, a multitude of weapons, realistic physics and special effects;
the RPG part being the variety of truck types to choose from, a unique
world, a great number of optional quests and a flexible plot. Expect
the game in Q4 2005.
</em></blockquote>I'm glad that more people are paying attention to the
PA genre, but I think I'd like to see more real RPG's, and less
<em>Carmageddon: After the Fall</em>.

Yeah, I don't know about this. While I didn't exactly play as a person when I played Star Flight 1 & 2, I'm not quite sure a truck is cool enough to keep my interest, even if I am rolling around looking for ruins of lost civilizations. It's probably going to be mission based too, I suppose?

Jock ! That was his name. One minute he's calmly getting wasted on tepid beer, the next and forever more, he is a helicopter. Poor sod.
Well, yes. Ion Storm and LGS are dead though, at least I think they are. Though if the franchise is as jealously hoarded as System Shock is . . . I have no further constructive information to offer at this juncture.Mr.Teatime wrote:ExMachina is a very similar title to Deus Ex Machina. I'd have thought it's too close to Deus Ex to get away with.

I'm going to go with Teatime on this. Trading games can be pretty damned fun if they're done right. If the vehicle combat isn't really shitty, and there's no goofiness with the trade system, it could be pretty sweet. I just hope they don't toss in a story that totally fucks up the trade system like Freelancer did.
