Fallout: Clones or New but similar Games

I have had a long time just sitting around for FO:3 so I want to know if there are any games out there that are like or similar to fallout. I am now waiting for THE FALL the Last Days of Gaia and FO:3 but I have heard many good things about other games, but all of you guys use abbreviations for them so I am out on the loop. I like FO because it is a little bit modern you know with modern style clothes, weapons, and items. I don't really like games that have unrealistic characters like dragons or trees and that are set around medevil times. So if you reply nicely I will hold you to your word and probably buy the game you recommend. Cheers!!

I moved this thread from its seemingly random placement in The Vault forum... as for games, I have to agree with Frowning really. Fallout clones are rare. There's the shareware omega syndrome which is a FO clone (check news from yesterday)... and then for quality games you have to go back a few years, for Anachronox, Arcanum, Planescape: Torment... recently uyou could try Divine Divinity or Arx Fatalis. But none of those games are like Fallout, only decent RPGs.

The elment of having the power to make choices and so on... That's what I can think of really..

Is there a post apoc mod for Morrowind? If so that could be fun, or you could do one yourself with the editor software that comes with it.

There was a Fallout TC for Morrowind, but it got cancelled due to frustration with the combat engine, if I recall correctly. I saw a few screenshots of the vault scenery that was already done. It looked good.

but yeah, the problem was gettin weapons to work properly... especially ranged ones =/

Morrowind has a terrible combat engine, so it's for the best they canned the project. If they finished it and the project was held back all the time by the combat it would have been tragic.
