The Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco thread

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

Weed doesn't kill brain cells.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

Weed only reduces cognitive performance if low cognitive performance is present in the first place but any decrease in general intelligence returns to normal after a few weeks of abstinence. Weed really doesn't have that much long term effect on the mind as many people would like to believe.

I still wouldn't touch the stuff though.

It would be more accurate to say "five to six hours" instead of "few weeks", speaking from personal experience. I've found that all lingering effects disappear after 24 hours of abstinence. But then again, I'm a moderate smoker, some people I know report longer periods of "fuzzy-ness" after heavy smoking.

Heavy drinking has more of a negative long term effect on the brain than heavy smoking. Apparently, there have been some definitive studies lately that show a risk of lung damage (big surprise), however... but fuck it, who says my lungs are so important anyway? Hell, in 20 years half my organs are probably gonna be cybernetic replacements.

If you're lucky, you can remain fuzzy for about 6 hours after smoking, although a full-blown body high can last for 24 hours. I always feel kind of warm and fuzzy for a couple days after, though I'd blame the euphoria on another source.

As for reports of feeling stupid after inhaling, I don't get it. When I'm high, I feel relaxed and certainly very lazy, but all of my mental faculties are still going fine. Sometimes my brain gets lost on a weird tangent and I'll zone out of reality, but all the better. I find that marijuana is very good for cultivating abstract thought and general weirdness, so all the power to it as a 'smart' drug. Wheee.

I read somewhere that, just out of the blue(!), researchers started finding that most marihuana-smoking Jamaicans suffer from stomach-cancer... and are incredibly stupid, even more so then the regular Jamaican. Wonder why...

Besides, dricking is much cooler.
There are no 'knowns'. There are thing we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

I read somewhere god punishes sinners and I read somewhere that gold is the hardest metal and I read somewhere that if you eat fish your smart and I read somewhere something, but I can't remember if it's right or wrong, I read somewhere.

Oh yes , nothing like a good puke, eh bulmie? I'm seeing in frames dude! Wow, like, slurred speech rocks.

All things in moderation. I'd like to see how long will an entire finger of hash last on someone if he smokes it all in once. And weed is bad for you(but when did that stop me?), much like smoking in general is. There's also debate on whether it effects the immune system negatively.

I dont find it a smart drug. I simply find it a nicer way to stop thinking than alcohol. It's also a social drug for me, but that's a different story.

Raymondo, why wouldn't you "touch this stuff", exactly?

Look, I am not defending drinking or narcotics. I m just saying what I think regarding this topic. I am not stoping you from smoking, injecting or drinking anything... do what you like. I even encourage you to do so! Please, do more drugs... I recently read somewhere that its actually good for you...
and you know what they say? You cant get too much of a good thing!

I only one problems with what you wrote. You're Debating a subject with the ever-so-strong backbone of "I read somewhere". I CAN'T GET BEHIND THAT.

Probably one of the few answers not worth elaborating on. And with that, all credibility was lost (or was it lost to begin with ?) . . . :drunk:
