There are no 'knowns'. There are thing we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

...aah excellent, have you read all the other Lumley books before Bloodwars? I think I've got through the first set and the trilogy of vampire world novels although there was a gap of about 2 years when I struggled to find the last book, until it surfaced in a charity shop for about 75p. Bargain! Thoughts so far?

Yeah, I've read 1-7.

I had read some very positive reviews of Necroscope on Amazon, so I thought that I'd give it a shot.. Found all 13 of 'em in a local shop that imports all kinds of neat stuff, so I bought 'em.

I like how Lumley incorporates Lovecraftian elements/ideas/concepts/whatever into his stories... Like, uh, instant transportation with the help of a mathematical equation.. That's taken from Dreams in the Witch-House by Lovecraft. Fun stuff.

Anyway, I heard that Lumley is writing book 14 at the moment. :aiee:

I remember after reading the third one, set mostly in the Carpthians back in the time of Vlad the Impaler, when I sent him a real fanboy email saying how much I loved that book... tickled pink when I got a response back. I don't do that any more though...

I love the mix of science/mathematics with otherworld aliens and lands as well, makes it a little more tangible I think.
