Guilty Pleasures
What movies do you like that are concidered to be crap by the general public?
The best example I can give is a shit movie like Showgirls: I've seen it, it's horrible, yet it's one of my buddy's favorite movies and he spent like fifty bucks on an Anniversery Edition complete with a pin-the-boobie-tassles-on-the-stipper game.
These are movies you hide under your bed so no one knows about them, and they're not porn.
Some movies I can think of right now:
Cabin Boy
Johnny Mnemonic
Judge Dread
Class of Nuke 'Em High
Friday the 13th Movies
Freddy Got Fingered

There are no 'knowns'. There are thing we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

Any movie with Arnold Schwarzennegar. I don't care. I even liked that one where he tried to get his kid the Christmas present and ended up dressing as a superhero. I'm also a huge fan of the Hellraiser series.

Conan the Barbarian. And forget that Conan the Destroyer shit, because that flick was, pure and simple, shit.
The Untouchables.
Hamburger Hill... Platoon can eat a dick.
@ fallout ranger, I was under the impression that Black Hawk Down was relatively well received. It was, after all, a well done movie by a very talented director who's babies I'd like to have. That aside, it managed to be both accurate and entertaining.

If we were talking about "great movies" I'd be mentioning The Shining, The Exorcist, Amityville Horror, etc. This is about movies we wouldn't ordinarily admit to people that we liked. Hence "guilty pleasures."satanisgreat wrote:Saw was a great movie. I don't understand why every review I read said something about how it's "shamelessly gory" or whatever. I went in there expecting Dead-Alive or Dawn of the Dead, but I saw more blood and gore on ER later that night. No exaggeration.
Saw is by no means a great movie... but it is infeciously entertaining.
