<strong>[Community -> Update]</strong>
<p>Forum upgrades are always such fun, don't you think? Anyway, the
fancy code that runs DAC (which I spent a while making) uses HTML to
format news posts. That's because of the fancy WYSIWYG editor I
can type the stuff into back here. BBCode WYSIWYG versions are limited
to vBulletin (at least the good one, as far as I know). The forum
upgrade intermittently messed all that HTML up. </p><p>See, phpBB
have a (fairly reasonable I must admit) feature that allows you to turn
off HTML in your profile. Some of you had it turned off. That of
course meant you saw rooted HTML in the news forum. I've turned
it on for everyone's profile now and in a moment, will remove the
option to turn it off completely... because I'm like that.
</p>
Yay to phpBB 2.0.14! (Why the HTML was rooted)

What I had thought of was messing around with the quote function so that when you quote a post with HTML in the news forum, it strips the tags out for you.
Making it strip the tags rather than display them when HTML is turned off might not be such a bad idea though. People can still turn it off in their profiles then and they'll be able to read the news, though it won't be as pretty.
Hrm.. May want to re-write the hyperlinks into BBCode though so the "more info on" still works. I did think of being crafty from the get-go and re-writing the entire news into BBCode for the forums but effort vs result didn't work out.
