Running On Empty
Running On Empty
Looks like the eye candy,
and of course, the presumed game content,
is not enough,
blood in the water
to bait a feeding frenzy from that 'exclusive' elite that stampedes to each regurgitation of the massive on line subscription pyramid.
But hey,
I'm one of those 'Once And Future" fan boyz that preordered FOT,
(got that trendy camo 'OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone-bag' -- not that THAT'S any cold comfort), ... , so, what would I know about 'human nature'.
Unless it's:" a new 'consumer' born every minute ".
Step right up. Bargains galore ......
This spin on this - Wheel O' Fortune - sticks between the karma of repeating our comic cycles, a perpetual ""Ground Hog Day"", and the ""born again"" (TM) hysteria of the unrepentant, self medicated, target demographic, seeking another FIX.

Quite poetic...
Me, I don't own a console and haven't since I got a game cube with a shit load of games from one of the guys going overseas who wanted to sale some shit quick... I gave it back to him when he came back... Consoles simply aren't my thing. So, PC games... Only RPGs i've ever played were FO1, 2 & FOT though FOT wasn't really a full-blooded RPG and finally, KOTOR 1 & 2.
The only 2 games i've ever preordered were FOT and the Doom III Expansion (the box had a nifty T-Shirt inside). I'm a pretty picky gamer and honestly, there isn't a lot that interests me... Least not in the current market. I like the usual FPS's, HL, Doom, Painkiller reminded me of Heretic... I'll play Quake 4 since it's not based around the BS Quake arena crap and will actually go back where Quake 2 left off... I thought Quake 2 had one of the greatest intros i've seen in a game (1 of, not "the").
I'm a fan of RTS games... Though most are overly simplistic and rely too much on eye candy... The origional War Craft was awesome, then Star Craft; which in my opinion is probably the most well rounded and complex RTS games i've ever played... You had so many units and there were so many possibilities... Most RTS games that I play have a power cap with 1 or 2 units, so, everyone masses those and that's it... SC had a shit load of variant strategies... My personal favorite was useing the Protoss, fully upgrade dragoons, get a arbitors, then a templars, hallucinate the drop ships and arbitors, then fly right into the enemy base and take out their HQ... A lot of RTS games go like this... Mass best unit, point and click... Watch pretty battle... End. Sorry, not interested. The best RTS recently, hands down is Rome: Total War... And I have a lot of respect for the origional Homeworld as well.
Then, there are the dying genres... Space (flight) sims... Freespace... Loved it and wished there was a 3rd installment. Not really much to say about those... Just wish there were more out there.
And finally, back to RPGs... I don't personally care for magic or goblins or elves or any of that crap, never have, never will... Which is why I fell in love with Fallout.. It being the first RPG I ever played and I know my story is the same with a lot of people... "friend brought it over, wasn't interested at first, but kept playin for a few minutes, then those few minutes turned into weeks". That and I've always loved Post-Apocalyptic themes. Games like that are hard to find... Like you're constantly seeking that perfect drug. I like the KOTOR series because it had depth... It drew you in and was fun and funny... Next to Dogmeat is the assassin droid in KOTOR for favorite companion... Meatbag.
Any ways... The market is stale with crap like sims and tycoons and stupid shit I don't want to play, tons of racing games and other assorted junk... baaaah. The gaming industry really needs to get it's act together. That and people need a better sense of taste in products. hehe
PS almost forgot 1 series that took well over a year of my gaming life... Starfleet Command 1 & 2... Federation Blue Fleet baby (only clan i've ever been in). hehe, seriously, I like inovative/crossbreeds like that, borderline RTS/Flight Sim Hybrid... Really interesting and I had a blast until they dumbed it down starting with #2, and #3 finally had a solid MMO universe, but wasn't interesting... The MMO aspect killed it. They turned it into a MMO experience with a sim universe, and failed misserably over and over and then they got rid of Starlance (online battle stats site) and then Gamespy took over... Typical
