More movie remakes

Post by Mr. Teatime »

<strong>[ Film & TV -> Update ]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... tle=George Romero">Person: George Romero</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... ?title=Day of the Dead (remake)">Film & TV: Day of the Dead (remake)</a>

<p><strong>George Romero</strong>'s <em>Day of the Dead</em> is following in the footsteps of
<em>Dawn of the Dead</em>, and being remade. There's no word on whether the
zombies will be of the ub3rrunningskillzwtf variety - here's what <a href="http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index. ... e=newsfull" target="_self">Bloody-Disgusting says</a>:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><em>Some of the boys behind the remakes of <a href="http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/435">The Amityville Horror, </a><a href="http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/405">Terror Train and </a><a href="http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/699">The Wicker Man</a> are back again and remaking George Romero's classic zombie splatterfest <strong><a href="http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/803">Day of the Dead</a></strong>,
according to the Hollywood Reporter. Working with Nu Image and
Millennium Films, Producers James Dudelson, Avi Lerner and Randall
Emmett are bringing Romero's third zombie flick back to the big screen
together. In the 1985 verison a small group of military officers and
scientists dwell in an underground bunker as the world above is overrun
by zombies.</em> </p>
</blockquote>
<p>The <em>Dawn of the Dead</em> remake was fun, if a lot shallower than the original version. This might turn out OK, I guess.

Day of the Dead was easily the worst of the trilogy.

Day of the Dead is easily my favourite of the trilogy.

It's slower than the rest but it's pretty well written and works. Except Bub or whatever that zombie's name is sucks.

I never said it was bad...just that it was the worst of the dead movies.

that's a movie that really needs to be remade. had a lot of potential but it just went bugfuck somewhere along the way. maybe this time they can do it better.

The original Day of the Dead had its budget slashed by half or there abouts, which lead to it looking like shit.

What surprises me is seeing one of my old favourites, The Wicker Man, listed in those credits. That is an obscure little British movie, not an American horror title.

I don't see what they're hoping to achieve with the new version, that isn't already a part of the old version.
I liked watching the original for the whole "Post-Apoc Zombie Science" thing, and Bub was fun in the same way the talking monkey in Congo was annoying, but the zombies didn't feel like a big part of it, kind of like scenery, and everyone treated them like brainless kiddies.
"- Come on Jeff, dont be sour. The Doc's gonna cut you up, and then ya'll get a lollie! How's 'at sound?"

Hell, the only scare were the people in there, acting out, fucking up.
So they got the bunker, meaning; they're safe! And then some moron wants to show off, and - bang - they're in shit, nothing new here.
They don't need zombies to make a flick like that, just put anything outside of those walls; terrorists, killer bees, a swarm of rabid racoons.
So just upping the gore won't do, this calls for some changes, obviously, and then the whole remake thing seems pretty pointless.
Why not make something new?

dude, i would totally pay to see a movie about a bunch of people under siege in a bunker by a horde of rabid racoons. that would be the motion picture event of the century

And dont forget 'Nameless crowd of dumbasses' who run the wrong way and get slaughtered in the first 5 minutes of the film, which is a good laugh
