Obligatory "New Member" Thread

Before anyone asks, I did several careful searches for an "introduce yourself" sort of thread, and found nothing. Therefore, I took the liberty of creating one! Hope you don't mind.

I am a refugee from No Mutants Allowed -- in short, I have defected to Duck and Cover. Everyone there was getting a little, shall we say, arrogant and prickish, so I left in a tiff. Some anonymous person emailed me and said the fellows at Duck and Cover were far more well-mannered, so I bopped on over.

A little history: huge Fallout fan, here. I've played Fallout 1 and 2 dozens of times each, know the Fallout Bibles like the back of my hand, and I am currently working on converting Fallout into the pen-and-paper game system HERO System Fifth Edition Revised. You can see a sample of my work here. Once all the work is complete, I will publish the campaign setting to .pdf; if you are interested, let me know.

And if you didn't already know, but want to, the official Fallout font is Gothic 821 Condensed BT.

EDIT: I am guessing my "SDF!" honorary title there means "Some Dumb F***!" Am I right? Flattered!

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

Be welcome and all that chit, but you would've done a better job by posting something really really cool and vital to the Fallout scene in one of the already existing threads, like the rest of us (?).

But yay, nice to see NMA is dying one member at a time.

Many pardons, but I was checking to see if I'd catch the same sort of flack that FNGs were getting over at NMA -- sticking my toe in the water, so to speak.

Also, see the link on my first post. I personally consider my Fallout HERO project to be a decent contribution to the community, though many of you couldn't care less. If you do, well, there it is.

Ugh I guess welcome aboard. The reason why we don't have a "Introduce yourself thread" to my knowledge (and as you may infered ) is cause most people see them as a waste of time and something like spam. As the esteemed Kashluk mentioned, it's better to introduce yourself in an existing topic, that is if you really need an introduction, it's best just to post something useful. But that comes with the title; SDF, which I still thinks really means "Super Dimensional Fortress."

How bad has NMA gotten that DAC is better mannered?

EDIT: By the way, don't listen to these guys. I don't remember the last time I saw a "useful" thread or post around these parts.

I think it is my duty to give you fair warning since no one else here will.

If the combined communities of NMA and DAC were converted from forums into a real city most of the people you would find lurking around in the sewers and dark alleys would be from DAC.

I hope any unpleasantries that will surely happen to you in the future will not be taken so badly now that you have this information.

Hm. Nice to see a decent person walking in. I hope you wont be discouraged by the majority of spam, useless banter, gross "erotic" pictures, negativity, flaming etc...

Haven't checked your system, mainly because I've given up on P&P'ing Fallout. It's best kept on the PC imo, but a good initiative none-the-less.

i think he means that if you posted this thread on nma rosh would ban your little butt. usually these threads get filled with shitty posts that imitate the original shitty post as they usually don't put much effort in but since you wrote something other than a poem or a sentence it seems that bla bla bla

Forums rules, wha?? Welcome Crispy. The trick to enjoy DAC is to not take yourself seriously. Or anyone for that matter. Do that and you'll be fine and maybe enjoy the place.

If you bother to do some digging you'll uncover the stories of a few arrogant individuals which left DAC, ie Rex and satanisgreat. They'Re good example of what not to do.
