But frankly, just like in any other country there's a good deal of dumb pricks who will come up with most ridiculous ideas, not only about Russians. But Russians actually did lots of interesting things like trying to take over our country several times, sometimes cooperating with Germany and sometimes fighting them; you surely remember that Russia controlled Poland (the whole communist block) in military and political terms until 1989. We're in the "lucky" position to be right between two great military powers of Europe.
Of course like in any other country there's a number of people who will not go on stupid blaming anything on anybody if they have no reason to. I don't think we're anything like exceptional in stupid beliefs being shared by the less intelligent part of the society.

Are there no polish pirates? 
Anyhow, I fully understand your point, we've got the same problem with translated movies and games, except in french. There are rare cases where the translation is as good. And there is even a unique occasion on which the translation is better than the original. Ask Spazmo about it.
