City of the Dead preview

Post by Fez »

[ Game -> Preview ] - More info on Game: City of the Dead

Boomtown have a preview of the George Romero inspired zombie apocalypse FPS game, City of the Dead:

With the focus set entirely on zombie blasting, City of the Dead awards
such things as headshots and limbs being blown away with its points
system. Perhaps most interesting is the games physics based skeletal
and reaction system. Take a shotgun to a zombies legs and they are
likely to be blown clean off.

Rather than staying down, the zombie may therefore attempt to bite you
by crawling along the floor towards you. Take out one of its arms and
it will damn near attempt to do the very same thing, albeit with
limited resources.

The screenshots there look suitably gore-filled for the genre. A good zombie shooter on the PC would be welcome. It also
mentions that it will inlcude the sadly rare co-op mode for you to play
through. Hopefully that will be included for the PC version as well, too few
FPS have that feature.

Most FPS games' multiplayer ends up as DM.

George Romero inspired ...brrrrr.

It's truly sad to see FPS's degenerating back into mindless zombie shootouts. O well, I don't have to play that so why do I care.

Maybe they'll try to keep up with the times and make zombies REALLY FAST so it plays like CounterStrike?

Zombies . . . they will lend a more convincing excuse for disappointing A.I than the oft trumpeted 'We ran out of time/steam/money/blah'. Or will it ?

Please, please, please no Galapagos zombies. Then it's just the skin and voice. Both of which would be wearisome.

As I never, ever lie, I cannot claim that I am particularly thrilled by the prospect of yet another likely generic shooting game. Yay woo. :drunk:

There is no doubt a fan made mod will make the game Counterterrorist vs. terrorists.

:zombie: :chainsaw:

Shooting zombies is morally more acceptable than shooting live ones. Just add boils and green blood to drop the age rating.

Well some zombies have tits... like, in Nocturne... actually I can't think of any game other than Nocturne that had zombies with tits, but I think I made my point :chew:

You mean those winged naked zombie females, valkyiries or whatever they're called. I remember seeing those bitches in several games.

No, in Nocturne, they were shambling corpses in night-gowns, and their faces rotted off.

The intro was nice, I watched it twice! The game itself, gave me aids.

First 2 episodes (vampires and lovecraftian monsters) were pretty awesome. The other two were meh. Too bad I can't get Nocturne running on my PC again. And I don't feel like swapping the videocard, since it'd take a lot of unscrewing and unplugging to do.

The company making it just went out of business or something. It's HIP games, and they dont know what they will do with their current projects.

I just read that their canada place went out of business but their london place will still work it baby.
