I've got this on my CPU, this as my power supply and this at the bottom of the case...

Apparently my cooling's just not efficient enough :? no?

I went with midrange noise reducing bits. Its been a while so things are starting to get noisy again :(

I had an incarnation of this computer where the CPU used to run at 70C on bad days. Old Athlon 1.2Ghz. In fact that CPU is still chugging in another computer far, far away.
I miss the good ol' USSA.

It might be those noise pads, kashluk. They could be acting as insulators.

Give up on the noise-killer...

If you have a spare locker, drawers or a closet, then build your machine into that... it sounds like you have a really serious heat problem..
That might save you some sound grief, *and* keep it cool.

Just install an extra fan at the back of you case that's drawing air out. Make sure you still suck in enough air at the bottom as to not create a vacuum and shit.

Ow and try to get a better cpu cooler or sand the current one and see if that has any effect.

What?

As for more fans, that woul ruin the whole point of his case..
he could just remove the noise-insulation and he'd have no problem, but that's not what he wants.

You can polish (sand down?) the copper plating at the bottom of the heatsink.

Sanding the contact surface of the heatsink will hopefully remove any peaks or valleys, making for a more even contact with the processor and thus better heat conduction. Thermal paste is generally applied mostly to fill the little spaces between processor and heatsink.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

No go. It had no effect on the temperature.

Why not locate the CPU in a cold place like in a fridge or next to an open window or inside your pants? Common sense, duh! :eyebrow:

You would want very, very, very distilled water.

I like the way there's some cds stacked neatly and hidden away on one corner of the desk while the pc that looks like a sex attack victim lays over the rest in a sprawling mess. A little futile?

Guess what, my CPU is at 67 degrees Celsius now, after a few hours of Warcraft 3..!

(P4 3.2 800 FSB)

I wondered why the fuck everything ran weird..!
I've been asking around about it, and I'll try to fix it later today, but I've heard that 54 after about 4 hours of Doom3 or WoW is a pretty decent temperature.

The family computer keeps shutting down for no reason over what I guess is overheating. It always worked fine for me, but I've had to take the side off and everything and it still overheats.

Unless it only thinks it overheats to quickly.
