How cool people spent the 60th anniversary of Trinity Test

I'm somewhat pissed that I managed to miss this for the July 16 post, and in fact haven't even heard about SimNuke project until yesterday.

A group of people set out to recreate Trinity Test, using controlled
fuel burn to simulate the mushroom cloud in commemoration of the event.
Not to be a dick (and the plume was really nice), but it didn't look
anything like the original. Perhaps they should've used real
explosives, and more dust.

The website also contains information about some sort of an art gallery
devoted to the menace of nuclear war and such. It opens on July 28 in
San Francisco. If anyone lives in the area, please, pay them a visit,
take some photographs, and if you can, write a report for us.
