<strong>[ Game -> Update ]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... le=Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game">Game: Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game</a>

<p><a href="http://top100.ign.com/2005/051-060.html" target="_self">IGN have made a generic list of their top 100 games</a>, something which they seem to do every few months. <em>Fallout</em> is number 55:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><em><strong>Why it Made the Top 100 List:</strong> The sequel allowed you to put
armor on your party members and order them to stay or follow, but it's
the original that's warmest in our gaming hearts. It offered a huge
spectrum of actual role playing, problems that had no clear answers, an
enormous environment, a dignified and mature grittiness, hilarious
dialog, and a fully realized world that managed to breathe life into
the otherwise fading post-apocalypse cultural awareness, with a retro
50s twist. You were a true anti-hero who just wanted to do his own
thing -- a loner by nature who just wanted security and peace but had
to go through hell to get there.</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p>Hurray for Fallout.

I can go with Fallout beeing beaten by System Shock 2, but then System Shock 2 should have been first and Fallout second :anger:
But Fallout beaten by a HOCKEY GAME? that is unacceptable! >:(

Its only natural that as we get further and further away from Fallout's release date the staff at IGN is joined by newer gamers. The Bioware/Morrowind generation.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.

So useless, so pointless, so wrong. You just have to click one page at random to see that list is bullshit. Fucking overrespected gaming sites. I know those lists are subjective, but they only exist so that game reviewers can show their überness. Usually the best games lie between 20 and 50.

Yeah, what the hell were they thinking? Ultima 7 at 84, Ultima Underworld at 99... Atleast Baldur's gate 2 is there, shouldn't be above fallout though...

Who cares what they think anyway... Bastards.

That's remarkably well put. He explained why Fallout is the Best, the #1 game of all time.

The top 10 is just a dismal read. Super Mario, Tetris, StarCraft, Street Fighter... all well known titles but do they fit into the definition of best? That sounds like undervaluing most modern games. Or maybe they view those games relatively to the progression of gaming, but in that case it should be the 100 most impactful games. Ah well, conclusively: IGN sucks.

If the list was titled "Top 100 Ubiquitous Classics", it would be more accurate.

It's like they just threw a couple of old CRPGs on there just to maintain they're street cred or some bullshit.
