A REAL Review of Restricted Area
[ Game -> Review ] - More info on Game: Restricted Area

The folks over at Gamespy
appear to have written the first intelligent review of Restricted Area
that I've seen. They completely bash in the game's face.

If you read our most recent preview of Restricted Area, you know we were looking forward to the final build of this Diablo-style
action-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic universe. After all, the
opportunity to gun down hordes of mutants, collect cybernetic gear, and
wander the wastelands should appeal to anyone who misses the classic Fallout and Fallout 2 role-playing games. So much for that. Master Creating's title is laden with bugs, pathfinding issues, poorly
implemented multiplayer, and tedious quests and level design, making it
one of the worst titles we've reviewed this year.

...

Restricted Area could have nicely filled the underused niche of
the sci-fi action-RPG, but the bugs, boring level design, and tedious
pathfinding combine to make the game a miserable chore. Sadly, the
game's official online forums were taken down after being flooded with
complaints, about as sad an indictment as you can get. Even if you see Restricted Area in a $10 bargain bin months from now, think twice; I didn't pay anything for my copy and I still feel ripped off.

The review accurately states many of the horrible things that went
wrong with this game. You can go and read the whole thing here.

Spotted @ RPG Dot

Ha, I keep hearing this game being bashed, which for me is enjoyable. But i have one thing that you should look at that would make one laugh.http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/restricted-area/569659p1.html
here are 2 really wonderfull quotes.
"After the game´s extraordinary success in Germany we are thrilled to be working with a strong partner like Whiptail Interactive on the international release,"
"The feedback from gamers worldwide has been fantastic so far and we are grateful to those fans."
Hmmm, I think I seem to see some irony going on here.

'Tis a great pity, really. I was so looking forward to running around in a spray on rubber dress, prodigious breasts flapping mightily, destroying half naked, deranged mutants with mind bullets and other funky new age parlour tricks. But no ! They disappointed me ! They snatched away the proffered bauble, cruelly laughing on their way to the bank ! Ehue.
I am most relieved that a colleague was silly enough to purchase it.
