I generally don't like anime. I used to watch DBZ years ago and thats about as close as I got. I saw the cowboy bebop movie just a couple of days ago and I kept falling asleep. Had to watch the rest the next day, it wasnt that late in the night though.
I don't like anime at all. There's probably some okay anime out there, but I hate the whole atmosphere of anime, and no matter what I find that it looks like shit. I'll take good ol' American animation any day of the week. The elitism of anime fans doesn't help much, either.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
I really don't care enough to feel strongly either way. Prejudices and the opinions of others are irrelevant to me, and so I'll watch anime if it interests me, ignore it if it doesn't.
That said, I haven't yet encountered much that holds my attention and sports redeeming qualities.

Totally agree.
As for the original question, I'm no anime fanatic, but I have seen the ocasional one I liked.
For example, as well as the Cowboy Beebop series: Spriggan, Ninja Scrolls, and Vampire Hunter D.
All of which seem to have oodles of over-done violence (but without being hentai), so maybe that's why I liked them.
But from what I can tell ithere is a heap of boring shit as well, so I guess that makes me kinda ambivalent.
Series all suck, but a few movies are good. Mainly, Miyazaki's stuff is awesome, as well as Otomo's Akira. His Steamboy was okay, but it doesn't hold up.
