One word: Firefox.
Maybe you got some spyware or something like that. Check for some and/or reformat. Check the processes open also.
Run -> Execute -> msconfig
That might be a good choice to check the programs that start also.

my IE is always fine. I just have a litle truole with mutiple windows, it makes everything slow down. But that is it. Try a system restore to the time before all this happened, or get ad-aware

explorer.exe isn't Internet Explorer. explorer.exe is basically what lets you navigate Windows. The taskbar, the icons, etc.
I'm not sure about your problem, Gimpmask. I've never had trouble with it.
It shouldn't be using up too much of your resources.

Oh, well in that case, if it isnt internet explorer, which mine says explorer.exe for some stupid reason, Still downloa Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot.
Run tose and that should take care of any problems with spyware or possible virus sources.

Ooh ooh! Post your favourite resource hog!
Mine's CLI from the Catalysts driver ( Actually there's up to 2-3 of them ) and kpfgui ( also 2 since I can't be bothered to start it up manually ). Together they eat 0-85% of my cpu, usually in moronic patterns.

I usually don't have resource problems. Unless I'm playing a game made by Troika.

Konfabulator is a big resource hog. It's useful, but the clock take lots of my memory. A widget to monitor the memory takes lots of memory itself...

If restarting explorer doesn't work, you probably have a virus.

Firefox uses up some pretty serious resources, actually, which kind of bugs me since it's supposed to be the lean and mean alternative to Mozilla, which must really be an 800 pound gorilla (despite being, I'm sure, loaded with great features).
I also hate how much resources Azureus (BitTorrent client) uses when you open the program with a torrent already in progress and it starts checking the files to see what pieces have been downloaded. It really hogs the processor.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Why Windows?
Install Linux instead.
Then you can skip all the expensive Windows games and devote yourself
to deeply intellectual text adventure games.
