Thats all i am saying. I have so far seen way to many mods promising fallout mod set in some time before or after fallout 2 time. And thats just plane imposible to do.
Game duration is set for 13 years (which in my opinion is more than enough) to play the game. What worries me is if you can edit the starting and finishing point of this 13 year period.
Aka fallout 2 started in 2241 if i remember correctly. Can you edit it so a mod can start 20 years earlier (2221 ) for example? .If it is possible then the game will start in 2221 and end in 2234 (no breaking th 13 years limit)
hello, new guy!

Yes you can. You can change the start day/year/month.
To alter starting date (EXE location US 1.02) I believe the offsets are:
offset
00093756 [1 byte] - Day of month-1
0009376C [2-4 bytes] - Year
00093782 [1-4 bytes] - Month (Jan=0)

These are the in-file offsets. I don't know the in-memory offets off the top of my head, and I'm at work, so I don't have the files to check.

Erm, but the clock doesnt got bellow or beyond that period of time. You can not set it back in time and you can not set it forward. Imagine those years like hours on the clock. There is 12 hours on the clock. On the world map clock in f2 there is 13 years. when it goes past 13 it starts over. If you rewind it it from year 1 backwards it would go to year 13. Thats why they have 13 years limit in the first place.

Sure you can change start date by hexing the exe if you keep it in frames on those 13 years. Wich is not of much use unless you want even less than 13 years of time.

As far as I no, nobody was arguing the 13-year limit. What I was disagreed with was:

You have a misstatement here. It is not those 13 years that you are limited to, but any set of 13 contiguous years. To use your clock example, there are only 13 numbers on the clock, and they are all in numeric order, but they can have any start number: 1-13, 3-15, 21-33, 100-112, etc.

That's a link to Haris' MOD called Wasteland Merc 2.0. It's decent, but it's not much fun due to the 13 year thing. Too much to do and mess with, and too little time.

All you need is FO2 to play a mod...And follow directions in the readme. Or you can use a program called...Nevermind, I can't remember tha name, but it's most likely available on the DAC download section, or at NMA.

So is there a tentative release date for this mod? I'm still interested...I think most people are.

As for the time thing, Temp is right, I believe. Any start DATE and then 13 years later as the end DATE would work. So the mod can take place whenever.

Figured out how to not start in Arroyo?

There might be scripts that assume you start in Arroyo for normal FO2, so that might mess something up - I've never bothered to investigate.

But it is fairly easy to start on a different map, you just need to change the start map specified in the EXE from artemple.map to whatever you want to use. I don't have the in-file offsets, but the in-memory offsets for this are at:

UK 1.02 Memory Offset 519518
US 1.02 Memory Offset 5194C8
GR 1.02 Memory Offset 519548 (Untested)

Not sure if that is what you were looking for or not.

Actually if you are using Vault net Addon the time limit becomes more than enough for that mod.

Try it out from a pc that isnt at work or school. It was baned by one of those adult site filters just cause there was another site under that same host that had porn on it. So they baned all atspace sites.
