More proof Fallout is unmarkettable.
[ -> N/A]
Basically, the reason that we haven't seen another Fallout sequel is that the marketting boys at Interplay think that there's not enough demand for it. However, I submit to you this comment thread on VoodooExtreme where the subject of Fallout has hijacked a thread about a the upcoming MMORPG about Star Wars.

It's funny that people are talking about how great Fallout was, which doesn't have a sequel in the works, over the Star Wars MMORPG, which is being made. Nope, no market demand there!

Which isn't saying much, since your average foot fungus* has a higher IQ than the entire Interplay marketing staff.Saint_Proverbius wrote:Basically, the reason that we haven't seen another Fallout sequel is that the marketting boys at Interplay think that there's not enough demand for it.

I guess they're not monitoring how many "dual jewels" and white label bundles of FO1 & 2 they're selling globally....
If they think there's a market for a triple pack "All Fallout" bundle, and everyone and his dog is talking about the Fallout series, how the fuck can they not see that there's a big market for FO3???

Maybe they realise that FO3 would have to be made well for it to sell. It would be compared to FO (and maybe Arcanum) in reviews, and would consequently have to live up to high standards.
With FO3 it just wouldn't be possible to take a bunch of trendy stuff (l33t 3D kewlness, etc) and use it to make a shallow game which would sell to the casual gamer. FO doesn't really have the market share that some games enjoy, and FO3 wouldn't be able to sell merely on it's originallity. Therefore, it would actually have to be good to be marketable.

The marketing types, or the mind set of the exec's when they make these decisions is out of touch with the reality of the SEX APPEAL of a FO3.
The corporate minds are in their own realm of trends and parameters, and the sales pitch to some banker "bitch" may depend on the last greatest THANG.
A FO3 might not have the perceived "legs" of the latest FANTASY RAT HUNT, but she knows how to strut in those 5 inch heals; bump, shimmy, grind, and hump that chrome pole for the Pip Boys of Tommorrow 'till the collective chins are wet with drool, and the mass crotch is sticky with pre-ignition lubrication. Is that a sublte enough inDICKation of the APPEAL?
If they are saving FO3 for a Last Hurrah, it won't have to be "good" only
look good enough to sell for a quick turn over. The great (m')bate and switch of old, and on the same level of integrity as lawyers and used car salesman. My appologises to those sharks that might take offense with being associated with the marketing losers that will leap with the rats as the company sinks.
Why waste FO3 on Teen delusions of Shangrala? Try a stealth approach.
Why not program a "back door" that would wait in anticipation for an adult insertion, I mean a M-X rated patch?
Why not scare the hell out of us all, (make us believe in fairies), and put together a great FO 3 game that needs only 2 patches (Windoze hardware issues)?
