The Dickheads Strike Back
[ Game -> Update ]

Followers of DAC will know all about the RPG some guys are working on. Here's another update:

Hello, I dont understand the reasoning behind your attack on our RPG.

Neither do I. It's a mad world innit? By the way, what RPG would
that be? This is Oblivion isn't it and you do work for Bethesda, don't
you?

I
had requested that you email me and I would provide you with the full
press release, a doc file. On this file there wouldve been the URL and
all the information.

No, you didn't. Let's cast our minds back to the first time we heard news about some RPG. I remember your name so luckily, I was able to dig up the news item here.

For the benefit of people who don't like following links, let's recap:

Darkedge Studios would finally like to officially announce the
development of The Omega project. It would be mos helpful if you could
post this press release on your news site so we can officialy get the
word out on the project. Thank you very much and hope we can count on
your support in the future.

Thank you very much G1ANN1X

If you'll recall, I did post *that* press release. The press release
which says nothing more than "We maek RPG LOL", doesn't give you any
information about the project and doesn't even suggest e-mailing anyone
about anything. Now back on to our new press release:

I dont wish to create tensions as I support the
Fallout community fully and hope that our relations can improve. We
have however no decided to delay the press realease as we feel that it
is better to await our ability to display the test demo currently in
development. Thank you

Ummm.. Right. So this press release isn't actually released then yet, is it? So what news am I posting, exactly?

There you go folks, if you want more information, just e-mail him.
By the way, for future purposes, here's my guide on how to make a press
release:

Always state the name of the product you're talking about.
Otherwise, people won't know what product you're talking about and
might get confused. It's a funny thing, that.

Always give links to the product's website. Otherwise, we won't
know what website it is. If you leave us to google it, we won't really
be sure that the web-site we found is actually your web-site and not
someone elses who happens to have the same project name (should you
fulfil the requirements of point 1).

I'm inherently lazy and only do things when they amuse me to some
mild degree. I don't like having to google to find your product just
because you couldn't tell me what it is OR failed to give me links to
further information on it. So it's always a good idea to tell people
what it is and give them a website to go to for more information.

The astute observer will realise that point 3 is just the same as
points 1 and 2. It's simple stuff but it really is that important.

When releasing a press release, it's always a good idea to send
people the *actual* press release or at least give them a link to it. I really have
better things to do then to e-mail "developers" begging for further
information about their product which I may or may not care about.

It's always a good idea to keep in touch with your own development team. Otherwise, you won't notice that they've posted information already
and you'll be left to ask stupid questions like "I dont understand the
reasoning behind your attack" which will only make things worse.

Hopefully, some smart cookies will twig and DAC will actually get
some real information later on which we can release about some RPG some
guys are making. You know, info like what it's about and where it's set
and what type of gameplay it has and who's working on it. You know, the
basic stuff.

I don't think you should announce anything unless there is something to show. Professional game studios try to announce their game projects as late as possible. Have they accomplished anything else than a few sketches and some vague undeveloped ideas, like a nice screenshot?
Thought so.
(and for the record I meant Omega Project this time, not FMF)

Well, I would fathom a guess to say they ARE a fan made mod project and not professhunal developArs but I'm still waiting for the link and (now cancelled) news release before I can be sure.VasikkA wrote:I don't think you should announce anything unless there is something to show. Hey, it works for me.ApTyp wrote:So, the best way to get on DAC frontpage is be belligerent and accuse the staff of some unmentioned wrongdoing?

I have to say that, whenever DU decides to humiliate and ridiculize someone,it turns out to be comedy gold.

You forgot most of us are banned from NMA

Aw, releasing their email? They'll receive mass fist and goatseDarkUnderlord wrote:E-mail: Gianandrea2001@hotmail.com

Actually, I unbanned you, Nicolai, and a few others today. It was, in part, that it has been long enough for one, and that I really can't deprive someone of seeing the full comedic humor of this kid and his trainwreck of a development cycle involving the other munchkin twits who have joined onto his forum to post some of the most idiotic crap without any setting basis. Well, that is impossible, because aside from "hive city", there really hasn't been a setting written in full yet.S4ur0n27 wrote:You forgot most of us are banned from NMA![]()
He has claimed to have a design doc, but is still topic and concept fishing on his own forum.
Survey Says: Liar!

Obsidian:
Now working on Fallout: New Undermountain!
They promise to spend only a year on this title - only a year less than the original Descent to Undermountain!
