BTW, I've a question. What's is it like with haircolour among the Finnish people? Looking at Kash and remembering something from some films I'm led to believe you're mostly blondes, but then again I met this Finnish guy with jet-black hair, and the protagonist from "Buddy" also had black hair. So maybe there's no real rule, or are the jet-black-hair guys of some other heritage? (the Sami/Lapps?)
Forgive my ignorance and enlighten me.

I had to finally find a way to flirt you, sweetheart :chick:

And I thought *maybe* there are two major ethnic groups in Finnland (i.e. the indigenous Sami and the Finnish who moved in) and *maybe* there are some real distinct tendencies in hair colour in these groups. I'm almost 100% sure all Sami have black hair, but I'm not sure about the Finns - is there any marked pattern? Kashluk looks as blond as a prototypical Swede, but Finns and Swedes are two totally different (pardon the term) cattle of fish.

Almost all Sami do have very dark hair, but there is no specific hair color, which all Finns would follow... Blonde hair is exceptionally common, but most people have darkish/brown hair. Then there are "minorities" with red and completely black hair. So to answer your question "is there any marked pattern?" - no.

Besides, brown hair and brown eye genes are "dominant" over blonde hair and blue eye genes.

yeah, I've read due to the gene being dominant the last blond person will be born in the year... something, and it's gonna be in, surprise surprise, Sweden (just a hypothesis based on some research data)

yo mothafucka you stole my sig!

Well yeah, I guess it'll eventually happen... if you exclude mutations and the fact that two blondes / blue eyed persons can only have blonde / blue eyed children.

and yo dawg, I thought about it first!

yes they can. that's how dominant\submissive genes work

... aaaand because blue eyes and blonde hair are characteristics caused by submissive genes (well, actually alleles, to be more accurate) you need to have both genes of the same type to have blye eyes / blonde hair, right? And since two blue eyed and blonde haired people only have genes that cause blue eyes and blonde hair their children *must* be blue eyed and blonde haired unless there is mutation involved. Or your wife's cheating on you.

I thought you could have throwbacks though like plants do, so if there's a gene somewhere for blonde eyes and blue hair your kid might end up looking all fucked up. There's also the whole narrowing down the gene pool if blonde people keep having sex with blonde people, as there can only be so many. But for now us blondes can just chill out alright because we're B)

I made this handy diagram in case you need it.

But are hair- and eye color determined by a single gene or multiple, like skin color? It just seems too simple to me. In other news, I'm totally in favor of eradicating the blondes from the genepool.

What I know for sure, is that gene(s) causing blonder hair and blue eyes are submissive... So whether it's a matter of a larger amount of genes or not, you would still have to be "pure" in order to have those traits. That's why it's been predicted that natural blondes would disappear in some time, since it's more likely that you'd end up with some "brownish genes" as well.

We should make a poll where we ask everyone's natural hair color!

I'm also blonde but not like those scandinavians...
