The hacker is the coolest, wtf.

Hacking control panels by playing connect the dots is the single greatest game innovation 3var.

That's kinda the problem with SS2 at this point, with so many versions to download, and massive compatibility issues. I'd not be at all surprised if it would be hard to track down all the changes made to get a game of that going online without it going out of sync.

What? Many verisons to download? Anyways, I never played without the 2,3 patch so I don't know what the hell it does. It's a patch, without it you are nothing. #Fallout would do well, and hope you get your game fixed Meg. If you don't need cd fix things now, I doubt you'll need em' after the patch. I'll be a hacker alright, fucking dragons in stalker wtf? Stalker online you're next, as soon as I find a terminal.

as for characters: my present character uses energy weapons and saves ammo and the degrading guns so I'm big on melee combat. I've got 2 implants (STr and anything else) and I pumped 'maintain' and 'hacking'.

don't you think the corridors are gonna be too small for three chatacters?

also, does the number of opponents vary according to the number of coop players?

Megs, I didn't carefully read what your problem with the game is, but for some systems game randomly crashes if you have a newer version of aureal 3D drivers (and you need these drivers to use hardware sound and EAX). For me the new ones work alrite. You did try running the game in "compatibile with win98" mode, didn't you?

Basically all you need for ss2 stuff is:

1. Patch from main website to get co-op unlocked
2. Hamachi or something similar to get online co-op, as technically it only supports LAN co-op.

And energy weapons are a blast till you realise they're utter shit against analid based enemies.

Not sure what it is, all I know is it works... for once. On windows XP.

it comes fixed up with all the doodads you can ever need in the patch as it friggen...if i copy the files into the demo dir will that work though probably not it did for max payne anyway it doesnt matter ill just not play it and remember it, ah yes. -_-

I feel so goddamned stupid guys, I should have seen this sooner. The answer to all your little problems. Meg's and Nico's and mine as well, was right in front of my nose all the time and I didn't see it. So simple.

A] Go into the INSTALL.CFG thing
B] Remove the entry "movie_path X:\sshock2\cutscenes+X:\shock\cutscenes"

The movies just didn't like to be played in game, and the codecs were older than dirt and refused to install. Getting rid of them fixed the nameless crash. The reason behind an X person getting into the menu, and an Y person crashing there and then was because they were separated by a string of code in cam.cfg, ala "skip_intro". When switching configs with pip I should have noted this fact before anything else (instead I went berzerk trying to crack soundbugs), but even the most skilled interweb detective can be wrong from time to time.

well what toxic suggested brought me closer to god, but then i got the black screen as I hadn't patched it. So I try installing the patch and it can't find the folder. So I look around a bit and delete all the registry entries since ive installed and reinstalled it about 6 times.

im just checking its all gone now before i try applying the patch again. i hope cleaning the registry fixed it instead of having a warez copy or whatever the fuck. I'm less interested in the game now than i am just getting it to work.

edit well it didnt work so more poking around the registry. unless there's a manual way to just install the patch?

edit 2 i pressed ctrl alt del and it said i was on patch 2.03 already. so is there anyway to check my version or a solution for the black screen after loading which ive missed.

we're already playing coop trying to get it to work
