Star Wars: Battlefront II

Sorry if I didn't see a board already covering this... only saw Empire at War, but then again, I didn't really look.

This is pretty damn fun... worth my 50 bucks, no doubt about it. With not only being able to do the already-available options, like fighting as a stormtrooper, playing at the Death Star or Mos Eisley, etc., there are two new and MAJOR features, and if you don't know or haven't heard about it... lift up the rock and take a look, buddeh.

1) Players can now play in space battles, in any of the four armies;
(EX: Empire players may Tie-Fighters, Rebel players, X-Wings, etc. etc. etc.)

2) Players can now play as heros, including jedi, sith, and several others. Lightsabers and force powers are easily superior to the average enemy infantry, and as so, Heros are considered a force to be reckoned with when in play. Otherwise, there is one mode of Mos Eisley where only heros may play, and in the process, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.

Unless you aren't interested in Star Wars, or games using the Battlefield Engine, it's definitely worth a look.

Now, with the beautiful graphics, the fast-paced gaming, and all the other goodies put aside, the game has one MAJOR flaw, as all online games do. It's a flaw that haunts honest gamers every day they go online.

THERE ARE EXTREMELY RETARDED AND ANNOYING ASSHOLES OUT THERE. NO DOUBT SOME OF THE BIGGEST PRICKS YOU'LL COME ACROSS IN YOUR LIFETIME.

Allow me to give an example of one such prick... been a while, so I can't recollect his ID. What I do remember clearly goes as follows:

I joined his server, joined the villans side, and chose Darth Maul. Some say a major cliche and overused-character, but in all honesty, I gotta say the red-and-black guy is possibly the strongest yet most agile guy out there.
At any rate, I hopped in, and started killin left and right. I'm cannon fodder amongst professionals, but amongst medium and moderate players, I'm a threat. After about 8 or 9 kills, I saw a player who was Boba Fett, and paid no attention to him, turning away. A teamate can handle himself, I knew, so I left him alone. However, I was caught off guard, as I was shot in the side a couple times. Turning back and using the lightsaber block feature, I blocked a couple shots off of who I least expected; the Fett player. Using the force jump ability, I fled to the health robot, and as I regenerated, I typed on the speak prompt:
"Manoil says:Whoever the hell was shooting at me, please cut it out.
Manoil says:It's really retarded."

Soon enough, I recieve a reply.
"______ says: It's my server, I can do what I want. There aren't rules in here."

Acknowledging that he thought he wanted war with me, I finished getting health, and leapt back over to the main area. As soon as I saw him, he began firing at me, to which, I blocked, and threw my lightsaber at him. As it went through him, he died, and I got back to my business.

Seems kiddo got a bit angry, and wanted revenge. I didn't mind; I rarely come up second on the scoreboard in a blood feud.

So, every time he respawned, he'd hop to the top of the nearby crashed ship, and wait for me to emerge to snipe at me. Within the first couple of shots, I found him. After that, it was me attacking, him dying, him respawning, him provoking, me attacking, and around again, like a loop from hell. I managed to get killed about 5 times in the process, but rest assured, his casulty rate was far higher than mine. Last time he DID get me, he typed one of those little "hahahaha" laughs, used to aggravate somebody.
Only noobs do it, but even BIGGER noobs take offense from such stupidity. I, on the other hand, stayed silent and waited for the respawn.

After about 35 minutes of our little fight, and a good number of times of standing over his lifeless body (well, they actually kneel when they die), he himself had switched to Darth Maul, and had begun to attack me. First encounter, I went down. Second time, he went down. As soon as I took him out, I went to the ship, his usual camping spot, and waited. Soon as he got to the arena that I killed him at, he looked up to the ship, and sure enough, saw me. Hopping up to the arena wall, he looked up to me, and did the saber throw. Unfortunately, it didn't go far enough to hit me.

One thing to note, though; Darth Maul has 2 force powers: Saber throw, and FORCE PUSH.

As soon as he jumped up to attack, I used force push, flinging him back down to the ground. Again, he tried to get back up, and again, I pushed him back down.

After several attempts, I was still laughing at my monitor, and he was still pissed. The next time he came up, I moved to the right side, letting him through, and slashed him across the back. With that death, he must have lost it.
"______ says: You know I should boot your ass or you should just leave cause your a fucking bitch and dick"

Although I realized the amusement was over, I typed my reply, and exited the match. I had said:
"Manoil says: Okay, I will. Pussy."


After that, among other times I've either found myself annoyed or amazed by some people's stupidity, I gotta say that one of the real debates to playing online, along with getting a virus, or high lag, is having to deal with douchebags like that. Now, I don't know if any of you care about Star Wars: BF2, seeing as how this is a FALLOUT website, but if you're tired of putting up with shit like this, lemme hear an AMEN. Say it loud, say it proud, even scream it to the sky; but if you sick of immature bitches on the net, speak the word of AMEN.

Don't forget you can fucking pop a shell into JarJar's stupidass... and you can be/kill the big ol' white bear things from Hoth, the bug people from StarWars: EP2, Wookies, and other things... it DOES use the Battlefield 2 engine, but it's got a number of things battlefield doesn't have... two way different categories, no doubt.

And playing it online, with all the l-users is pretty fun.
I've never killed so many people at once...

Just play whatever inside map there is, select the robot army and go in as superdroid or whatever it's called. Throw rockets all over, and keep shooting while jumping around, that'll give you three guaranteed kills if you're a 'tard, for the rockets, and if you have the least of skills about 5-10 kills before getting served by some jedi loser.

It seems to me the overall feel is more or less like a BF: 1942 starwars mod.

The general idea of 1942's design logic governing gameplay and "balance" seems very evident, starwars or not.

It's an alright game, interesting for a couple of hours. It's not one of the games I'd spend a horrible amount of time with, though. I spent more time with the Jedi Knight series, actually. Weird.
