21" vs 19" Crt

Post by Antimeasure »

Ehm, ive had my "new" crt 21" 1 day now, and im thinking of buying a 19" instead of having this 21"...

What do you have? If you had to choose, what would it be, 21" or 19"? But don't give any dumbass comment regarding 17" or 15".

Thanks.

I would choose 21", but thats just because I'm vain and would whant to show off. I don't think you would miss the extra 2".

I don't need a monitor because I have a vivid imagination.

I would personaly would get a 19' screen because 21' would be like have a giant TV on my desk especially if its a CRT. A 21' may be good if you have a really powerful computer and you want to run your games at the highest resolution too. I switched from CRT last year to LCD and I think its just as good, the "ghosting" you really can't even see unless your a super graphics whore. Though CRTs are still quite a bit less expensive than LCDs.

I was forced to switch my 17" to a 19" LCD recently and it's large enough for me. Picture quality is only slightly worse, but at least I'm getting a cool lens flare effect in my games so I don't need to buy Oblivion. You shouldn't buy a 21" unless you're a nearsighted senior citizen.

Oh.

19". At that point you hardly notice the difference in sizes of the screen, only the size of your wallet after purchasing one. CRT monitors are still the best but expensive as fuck. LCD's are crap.

LCDs are as fun as CRTs for bludgeoning others, so long as they are the purchases of others. This instance not being so, I would suggest 19. Pain to the pocket. :drunk:

Actually i own a 17" Lcd, and compared to the 21" crt, the 17 gives a much better image-quality, much crispier and clearer. on the old 21", text and color is one big blurr. So maybe i'll buy me a 19" today, and throw the 21" out of the window.

...the 21" i got my hands on is a "hitachi cm802et" - something for a pentium II 300mhz.

it really doesn't amtter that much. Guess what, 21 is bigger! So better for - guess what - a bigger image! Makes sense esp for watching film etc.

Myself I've had a decent 19" crt for 3,5 years but I'm considering buying a 19"LCD (MVA/PVA + acceleration; <9ms response; DVI) since I'm experinecing some flicker-effect problems with the present CRT, plus LCD saves space on the desk and is probably safer for your eyes.

LCDs today are pretty decent(and cheap). Just compare and choose between different screens. Mine is visible from almost 0 angle, but there are still differences between manufacturers. Ultra-fast response time, DVI and other connections, in-built speakers and all that crap are useless for the average user and only increase the price tag.

I recently bought a Samsung 19'' LCD to replace my 15'' CRT, it's pretty dope.

I advise against buying LCDs in internet shops, though. I tried it twice and both had pixel errors so I had to send them back. D;

If you sit in front of a CRT you have an electron gun aimed
at your face.

Of course LCDs are healthier.

I sit at an angle to my ancient CRT.
This also helps if it just explodes.
