I got a 19 inch and im happy, so go for the smaller size, cheaper and you dont need a stomper screen, its just more bucks for another 2 inchs.

Around the time of my divorce I had one setup with dual monitors (19inCRT's) I tried using my big screen (80in Mitsubiti). It was fine and all... but the distortion on it was insane. You really need the high resolution of a REAL computer monitor, even for older games as it makes the pixels stand way out on bigger screens.
If you get a LCD demo them in-store first. Unlike CRT's they are REALLY different in quality as you can see just by looking them over, some are dimmer than others, some are brighter, some are fuzzier, etc. The ghosting is always going to be there probably after I die, but unless you play alota racing games and at high res you really dont notice it to much.
The LCD's do look nicer, but technicaly they arient... resolution and refresh rate can always be better on CRT's... but you usualy dont notice it alot unless you work on them.
Example - If you work.. say on LCD's all day, then go home to a 21in CRT it messes with your eyes a little if you keep it on 2100 high rez mode.
Basicaly it comes down to the basics... If deskspace is your thing, get a LCD, if high rez and refresh is your thing and cheaper is your thing also get a CRT. Always though get bigger. The CRT or LCD thing is really only personal preference.
Yes... but its a long story, let me just quote a breif example from myself off a different set of forums as people ask this alot. Its easier to explain that way

Several years later he forgot his password, and for the [Censored] life of him he couldnt remember it for sh*t and still curses himself for that event on that day oh so many years ago. Back then they didnt have all the things they have now for password revival and stuff so styx just created "sytxferryman" and let bygones be bygons. Now, many years down the line he looks back on his old id and wishes he had it back... but as there are a hella lot of people that know him by sytx he just keep that id and lets styx be forgotten to all but himself.
The End.
It really dosent matter to me though if someone calls me styx or sytx. I think we've all been called alot worse.
Actualy now that I think about it, prior to sytx my online id changed quite a bit. But after I got that nick it just stuck, and then I just used it online since then and no old ones.

I think Fall Out Boy once made an emo song about this.

It was a very wristcutting experience.
Hatman:
Give me the name of the song, for we must learn.
The Fountain:
"I think I'll draw a picture, a picture with a twist
I'll draw it with a razor-blade, I'll draw it on my wrist
And as I draw my picture, a Fountain will appear
And with this Magic Fountain, my troubles disappear"
