I honestly don't value money enough to work that much.

If anything, its a lesson in getting yourself an education.

Some of the people with the longest hours are very well educated. The only difference is an education earns you a salary which denies you overtime pay.
Spoken from the mouth of someone who has no idea.
If you do your work and are not a Doctor/Manager, you will not have to work a long shift. Long shifts are self inflicted.
The only time you are forced to work long hours is in situations where you want way too much money which causes a large amount of responsibility.
If you want the big bucks, you can deal with the side effects of your own greed.

In the manufacturing field, I can make about 35-55k on average and still get overtime. And thats only as a start. Who the fuck wants more money?

I really only typed it. I didn’t actually say anything.

Perhaps you are right, OT is a result of greed. Sinners

Or is doing the bare minimum a result of sloth??? :?

Monthly Bills:
$150 - Natural Gas
$55 - Internet
$270 - Gasoline
$150 - Electricity
$50 - Water
$250 - Food
$130 - Insurance (car)
$700 - Mortage
$400 - Insurance (health & life)

Total - $2155

My monthly income (what I actually bring home after taxes as a teacher) - $1506.00

My wife's monthly income (what she brings home after taxes as a receptionist) - $1400

We keep roughly $750 a month to spend on car problems, lunch, clothing, or other little emergency items which may come up....At the end of the month we have saved about $400. That's hardly enough in case of a large emergency like a hospital visit, unplanned pregnancy, or car accident. Plus, my car is roughly 11 years old with somewhere around 200,000 miles on it (the odometer pooped out a year ago) and is on the verge of pooping out alltogether....Which means that $400 saved each month would need to go towards a car payment...If that happened, we'd be left with about $100 a month saved.

Gotta grab up that second job as we're constantly teetering on the verge of destitution.

In essence, life is so tough (when you're first starting out) that you do indeed have to break your back and work too fucking hard just to make ends meet.

Maybe you should move somewhere with higher pay or cheaper housing. Thats what a lot of people do atleast around here.

If you have nice parents or freinds you could try living with them for awhile to save up some money. I know some people that did that, not a lot of honour in it but money is el money as the mexicans say.

Heh had no idea things were so expensive in america, I dunno what's the conditions regarding your bills but almost all of then seem overpriced to me.
Besides the health insurance which is not required in my country because we have free medical care, I would spend a maximum of 500 to 600 € on those montly bills, maybe a little more with the car ensurance ( we only have to pay it once a year).

Food is cheaper here maybe.

$125/mo is enough to be fat.

You could go the rice&beans/ramen&spam route.

More $ for beer.

Car insurance is for 2 cars, one is new and nice....and I'm not allowed to drive it.

Food is expensive because that includes out to eat, cigarettes, beer, random "luncheons" and "lunch meetings" etc. And it is a bit inflated, but we do average $120 for 3 to 4 weeks of actual groceries..

I love places like Sam's Club, Costco, BJ's....all those huge places where you can buy food in bulk. You end up spending a little more on a single trip to the store compared to a single trip to like Stop and Shop or wherever, but instead of buying groceries for a week, you've got food to last a month or two.

Jesus, you guys need to move.

It seems that you have made it tough. I can get a job around here making around 16-18 bucks an hour and live quite comfortably on my own.
And we get a higher percentage taken off our wages than you guys do.

Shit, I checked into mortgages in the area and for a 150k house, I'll only end up paying around 600 a month.

Rural Southern Ontario, Canada.
I'm pretty sure if I was actually looking out in the sticks I could find a place for less.
I looked into property up in Northern Ontario and found out that I can get a 150 acre lot with a house on the lake, good tree coverage and all the ammenities for around 50k.
You can get cheaper lots but they don't have connected water. You either gotta drill a well or collect and filter from the lake.
