Hey, I think you guys need to give Bethseda a break. Personally, I think it's pretty frickin sweet that after nearly ten years after the release of the first Fallout, Bethseda has agreed to make Fallout 3 to the best of their ability. And I know all you guys want to do is start throwing crap at Bethseda after every little quote Mr. Hinze says, but hey, you gotta cut the guy some slack. It seems like no matter what new information comes from him or anything about Fallout 3, you guys have to come out and say how horrible it is, how much it sucks, and how much its going to be nothing like the original. You have to understand that no matter how they make the game, some people are just never going to be happy. I don’t think anyone would be very happy if no one decided to take on the huge project of Fallout 3.
On a lighter note, let me introduce myself. I am Red Dawnmaybe some of you will catch the reference. I played Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood Of Steel for the first time in 2003. I thought that overall the game was ok, but I absolutely loved the storyline. It wasn’t until now, four years later I, that I finally bought Fallout 1 & 2. I’ve been playing them for a while now and I am simply amazed at not only the complexity of the storylines but the incredible non-linear game play. I simply couldn’t understand why everyone hated BoS until I started playing Fallout and realized what you guys were talking about.

First off, why should we cut him slack? I see no reason why I should, and he's given me little reason why I should. Besides, it's not like he actually reads what we say with any seriousness or like we hold any noose over his head. So even if we did cut him some slack, what would it matter?
Second, your statement goes under the assumption that Pete is giving new information with each progressive interview. I swear to god, if you look at this and every other interview he's EVER given on Fallout 3, they only thing different between them is MAYBE the words he used to describe it; the content of his message remains the same.
Other then that, welcome aboard I guess.

Yeah, quite frankly, Bethesda's best is not good enough. Todd Howard's best is taking established franchises and dumbing them down to pander to the konsole kiddies. Vapid dialogue, bland characters, repetitive quests, lame combat, crap leveling systems, etc. Letting this douchebag do FO3 is like letting Michael Jackson babysit your kids.Red Dawn wrote:Bethseda has agreed to make Fallout 3 to the best of their ability.
So when Pete Hines comes out and starts spewing his PR bullshit, you'll have to excuse me for rolling my eyes, instead of drinking his Kool-aid like a good little bethsoft fanboy. After all we've heard all this shit before, and seen how true to their words they actually are when it's time to walk the walk. To then have the balls to come out with this "trust us" talk is laughable and insulting
I would, I'd rather see it die gracefully instead of being corpse-fucked over and over again. It's like that scene in every 'Nam movie, where the pointman gets ambushed, they want to run out and save him, but they'd just get shot in the process. So they just have to wait and as he gets clipped again and again and writhes in agony. Finally someone needs to have the balls to just shoot the poor bastard in the head and put him out of his misery.Red Dawn wrote:I don’t think anyone would be very happy if no one decided to take on the huge project of Fallout 3.

Either you haven't been following the discussion here long enough or you make a false generalization of Fallout fans. While most here are skeptic of Bethesda's abilities to make a decent Fallout RPG, given their record, only the most eager or immature openly proclaim how horrible it will be. I guess this applies to most if not all fan communities. As Wolfman Walt stated, Bethesda's PR statements and interviews haven't offered any solid information about the game, which itself is a source of irony and ridicule. Considering Bethesda's 'information blackout' policy and their history in making RPGs, the fans have every reason to remain skeptic. Oh, and welcome to DAC.Red Dawn wrote:And I know all you guys want to do is start throwing crap at Bethseda after every little quote Mr. Hinze says, but hey, you gotta cut the guy some slack.

So, I'm assuming you're not going to buy it when it comes out?
I don't think so.
But nice try Dipshit. [/quote]

That's right, barring a miracle of Planescape: Tormentian proportions, I won't buy FO3. I never bought Morrowind either, and I wouldn't piss on Oblivion if it was on fire.Red Dawn wrote:So, I'm assuming you're not going to buy it when it comes out?

I'm still pissed that I bought Daikatana, I'm done giving this industry the benefit of the doubt.

Damn, I'm trying to be optimistic about fo3 and believe that bethesda do take the project seriously and with the respect it needs, but.. 1 minute reading your posts got me desperate again. Are really ALL of you convinced that fo3 will be a piece of crap ? I mean, there's no doubt that it will be weaker than the originals, but doesn't anyone of you think that they can still deliver us a worthy, up to standart fallout experience ?
I just need to believe. The thought for another fallout is like the last outpost of light in hell. I can't see any hope of someone ressuructing the old values of game developing when it was about creativity and imagination not senseless commercialism. Ah, damn.. who am I kidding. It's all over...
Greetings, btw. This is my 1st post. I'm from Bulgaria.

When the search for truth is confused with political advocacy, the pursuit of knowledge is reduced to the quest for power.

Well the main problem is that we're getting no information at all. True some of us are more skeptic then others, but when you have the equavilent to a press black out and the previous product is Oblivion, then you have to sorta be skeptic. Once some ACTUAL news surfaces, some of us might come around....or be more damning.
