Mad Max RW wrote:Patches are no longer exclusive to PC. That was the whole point of Xbox Live and whatever piece of shit Sony dreamed up. They're falling for the release now, finish later technique. Many of the console games I've played recently are buggier than most PC games.
Patchability will definitely make console games more buggier, just like PC games. But hey, it also means a shorter development cycle; publishers will love that!
The only reason to get a console is so you KNOW your game will work and look good on your system.
Looking at all the screenshots for a lot of these newer PC games makes me sick because on my POS everything has to look like Quake 1 or it will be super slow..
Plus, what kind of fun is it to play a platform game with a keyboard or a shit-eating joystick that usually won't work for every game, and if it does the buttons are so convoluted as to make the game unplayable.
Nothing beats playing Super Mario, Mario RPG, Contra, Zelda, etc, than playing them on the real system with the real controllers. Now..I've got the emulators and every game for every console system that wasn't CD based. That computer is hooked up to our TV. But we have these joypads that just sort of suck the fun out of the game. Every joypad tries to be a PS1 pad, and that just doesn't feel right when playing N64, Gameboy, Genesis, SMS, or even the SNES. NES is okay because you can easily map A & B to buttons in corresponding positions, but figuring out a good..
Why? They're cheap (used ones cost about 40 bucks around here) and the platform has some pretty neat games for it like Wind Waker, Viewtiful Joe, Meteroid Prime etc.

First nicolai gets axbox and now you want to get a gamecube. I thought you guys were the hard of the hardcore, the last patriots of the PC?
Unless you go homebrew, I doubt you can get porn on your PSP as nobody bothers to put out movies on UMD anymore (and I'd be surprised if the porn industry ever did). The other consoles, though, all double as DVD players, and thus should be able to play your entire collection of erotic and sensual DVDs.
I'm thinking of getting a GameCube too, if only for the Resident Evils. But what I really need is a better TV and sound system, what with the PS3 coming up.
Actually, just a sound system will do. The RCA TV that I used to watch Disney videos on when I was in diapers still works great. (Seriously, it's from 1988.)
