well, I actually thought that it's because I'm situated in the south of Russia where's only weald and drunken villagers so I have to wait some more for those groundbreaking fallout 3 news, but the next year I looked at my wooden display and realized that shit, it's the same everywhere!Dan_Wood wrote:Quick show of hands: Who thinks that the license for Fallout has a strict 'DON'T TELL THE FALLOUT FANS SHIT' clause?

Personally, I think Bethsoft are wary of the potential fan backlash and don't want to reveal much until the game's close enough to release that they'll get some positive PR from other sites. That's an option at least - I actually have a relatively open mind about the game, even if the combat sucks and so on. It's possible they might nail the setting and quests. Slight, but possible. Basically, yeah. If we knew the details of the game for sure now, the fan community have at least a year to continually flame it which would definately cause some negative PR without much positive stuff from in-depth previews from Gamespot to counteract it. Like I've said, I'm pretty sure the combat isn't TB and the view isn't iso, I just think bethsoft don't really wanna officially confirm this that early so they avoid all the possible bad reaction.Frater Perdurabo wrote:So that we won't cause an uprising significant enoughMr. Teatime wrote:Personally, I think Bethsoft are wary of the potential fan backlash and don't want to reveal much until the game's close enough to release that they'll get some positive PR from other sites. ok, but they already have this bad reaction, since they don't tell the fans shit, and inasmuch as we know that the combat won't be TB and the view won't be iso, it's just a kind of silly magic circle. so, we can coolly start flaming it right now, although it won't fix the problem.Mr. Teatime wrote:If we knew the details of the game for sure now, the fan community have at least a year to continually flame it which would definately cause some negative PR without much positive stuff from in-depth previews from Gamespot to counteract it. Are you sure? If so any word on what they are doing with the game if anything at this time?Kharn wrote:Because they didn't buy the Van Buren assets, Obsidian did.Paranoid Jack wrote:Shit since they bought the rights to do the next three Fallout games which included the assets of the mostly complete Van Buren... why the hell wouldn't they (Bethesda) assign a group to pick up where Black Isle left off.

As far as I know, the deal roughly stands at Interplay owning the Fallout 1 and 2 assets, Bethesda having full rights to make Fallout 3 with options on 4 and 5 and with full rights to use Fallout 1 and 2 assets "at will" and Obsidian just owning the Van Buren shit that nobody really cares about (I mean, seriously).Paranoid Jack wrote:Are you sure? What they're doing with it? Nothing, of course. What *can* they do with it? At most they can take the entire story and paste it into another setting, but what'd be the point?

Unfortunatly, if we do start the Glorious Purifying Flames, we end up looking like (bigger) idiots. Remember when Killian got DAC into trouble with Lamespy? That was worth it because we had hard evidence that Black Isle and Interplay were thinking about FOOL and were making overtures to actually do it.graphophobe wrote:ok, but they already have this bad reaction, since they don't tell the fans shit, and inasmuch as we know that the combat won't be TB and the view won't be iso, it's just a kind of silly magic circle. so, we can coolly start flaming it right now, although it won't fix the problem.Mr. Teatime wrote:If we knew the details of the game for sure now, the fan community have at least a year to continually flame it which would definately cause some negative PR without much positive stuff from in-depth previews from Gamespot to counteract it. And then DAC came along, trotted the stillbirthed FOOL out for the Forum jackals to lambast with renewed fevor, and essentially shat in their plans.
Bethsoft apparently has at least one clue; don't tell anyone shit until it is written in stones large and heavy enough not to move.
Oh, and for those of you who, like me, celebrate the slow pirruette of death Interplay still continues to engage in... their stock still trades for less than a candybar and their forums still do not exist.

Mr old fox,
I just didn't get that statement "we will do what we do best".
ok, it's a reasonable thing indeed, and I could give you the green light in any circumstances but this one: I mean hullo,
you're fucken doing a sequel! you can forgo things that a bunch of miserable clowns consider accessory, you can even introduce
some of your favourite owlshit that doesn't fit in my humble cocksucking opinion, but not the TB combat, you self-assured
twit! you can't neglect the fact of being raped to the grave by the fallout community, so why not make your own goddam post
apoc game with gay gnomes and everything and name it morrowind with guns so everybody could be happy?
you say "the main thing about fallout for me is characters". i see, surely if you think so you can waste TB combat and iso.
but if you think so in fact you're an ignorant retard that has no moral right to do fallout 3 game.
btw, I had so much fun with those sluts in f2, let's make a leisure suit larry fallout!
imagine turn-based blow job, kamasutra perks and customizable weaponry.

You are a fucking idiot. Yes, now that it has been announced that Fallout 3 will use Oblivion's engine, I'm more than happy to do away with TB combat. Imagine how retarded it would look like, running towards an opponent in 1st person view, while he's standing there doing jackshit. To be honest, I never gave two shits about the combat in Fallout in general. Go and play Counterstrike.graphophobe wrote:you say "the main thing about fallout for me is characters". i see, surely if you think so you can waste TB combat and iso.

I am not even going to bother responding to the 2nd part of your statement, as it is just a stupidity, and clearly shows that you are the only ignorant retard here. Why don't you go and spend your time on something more productive, i.e. playing through Fallout in combat mode so that you can shoot all of those rats one by one. Dumbass.

If TB combat is what you are so extremely concerned about, I don't think that Fallout is the game for you.Mismatch wrote:hay dimwit, a gfx engine does not force a certain perspective.will use Oblivion's engine, I'm more than happy to do away with TB combat. And rather many of us would indeed prefer turnbased over realtime.
It is onbe of my concerns, yes.If TB combat is what you are so extremely concerned about, I don't think that Fallout is the game for you.
Why you may ask.
Well you see, it has to do with utilization of SPECIAL, which is the very core of FO system. Also it is indeed the best way for ranged combat and aiming for certain bodyparts.
Sure there are worse ways to fuck up FO3, however making it turnbased is rather simple and shouldnt take much effort, and if not using TB bethsoft will probably mess with SPECIAL, and if they do that they'll prolly mess with everything else.
If they can make realtime as good as TB I wouldnt mind, but they've shown what theyre capable of, and its all utter shit.
